We have to see the chimp playing hockey! That's hilarious! The ice is so slippery, and, and monkeys are all irrational. We have to see this!

Thrive to spite them

Is Arrowette related to Green Arrow at all?

I saw a tpb for Crisis on Infinite Earth today. There was a big fat book and then two smaller Crisis 1 and 2. I was tempted to buy them but I didn't.

Also my Longbow Hunters tpb is here! Unfortunately the stupid mailman decided to rubber band all the mail together and it got bent. I'm going to try and weight it down to flatten it out but I really can't complain considering the price.

Most of the "Kid" or whatever names were created for sidekicks in the 1960s, and were obviously meant to harken to the main character. Unfortunately, they seem kind of back in vogue.

Are there any other than Bart, though? Kid Flash, for Bart, makes sense given Bart-logic.

It's just "Arrowette." No "Green," and she's not a sidekick to Green Arrow at all.

Her mother hung with Ollie and the boys, and it is occasionally speculated that Ollie's her natural parent, though that's (as far as I can tell) based on one line in the *fabulous* Buffy send-up storyline of Young Justice combined with Arrowette's natural abilities. (And maybe also based on the hinting in the letters section of the GA run after Connor was discovered that perhaps there's more Arrowsprog out there.)

(What? Ollie? Randomly sire offspring? That never happens! Okay, maybe just that one, err, two, err... yeah. The old horndog.)

To understand what happened at the diner, we shall use Mr. Papaya! This is upsetting because he's the friendliest of fruits.

Not really, although her mother once insinuated that GA's her father, it's gotta be taken with a grain of salt--Arrowette's mom is often a liar. (Although it's also true GA got around a bit.)

I think the smaller books may be something else--the word "Crisis" has been used in a lot of D.C. story titles, all the way back to the sixties.

Bart adventured for a time as Impulse, since he was raised in a virtual environment and had existed for most of his life at near light speed, the term short attention span did not do him justice.

Though Meloni's personality suggests that it's perhaps Nature as much of Nurture to blame for Bart.

I love the fact that this is a crosspost, and that I started my answer before Askye even asked.

And "a bit" is such understatement here.

I'm pretty sure the two smaller books were Crisis of Infinite Earth 1 and 2. Next time I'm in there I'll check.

Arrowette still sounds like a silly name.

Remember, remember/the fifth of November/the Gunpowder Treason and Plot/I see no reason/Why Gunpowder Treason/Should ever be forgot.

Arrowette, no.

Her story was revealed in Young Justice, the precursor title to Teen Titans. The line-up of that book was Wonder Girl, Robin, Superboy, Impulse, Secret (a character who was only in that title) with later additions of Arrowette, Empress (a characer who was only in that title) and Lil' Lobo.

Arrowette was the daughter of the Silver Age Arrowette, who was the female counterpoint to Speedy, Green Arrow's ward. How Bonnie (Cissie's mom) became the first Arrowette, I do not know. She later left the superhero biz, got married, settled down, got tendonitis from temp work and transferred her super-hero aspirations on her daughter.

Please note that makes Bonnie a contemporary of Arensal, though she has been routinely protrayed in the modern comics to be older than Arensal (she at least in mid 30s while Arensal is in mid 20s) How they get around that bit of inconsistency? Lots of ignoring and the magic of Hypertime...

Bonnie also had the lovely idea of making sure Cissie had more than one costume, to maximize Arrowette's action figure marketability.

Cissie is currently retired, after nearly killing someone in a fit of temper.

edit: More crossposting

Heh. I think Arsenel may have passed him, though.

I'm certainly curious. Just don't buy it if it's "What if Stan Lee had written Crisis" or any of that junk. Not the same thing.

Arrowette still sounds like a silly name.

When you get right down to it, most of 'em are.

It is, but in a way that makes sense and adds to the story. Her arc was incredibly well done.

Now I want to run back and check! But I'm trying to stay away from the stores because I always end up spending money.

And of course now I want to read more about Arrowette.
