The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Also, Jilli, when you get back from PDX? I seem to have become a regular at the comic book store near your house. As in, shoot the shit about comics with the guy behind the counter.

Soooo, this means I theoretically could get a ride home from you on New Comic Days? Keen!

Oh, and indie and DC backstock is half-off at the moment. Don't know for how long. Though it is fair to say that the DC section is pretty picked over. Isayinnocently. I'll loan you the good stuff.

You realize that I've never actually set foot in that store? I'm not the one in the household that goes forth and buys the comics, and Pete usually goes to Comics Dungeon.

On topic-ish: I liked Tim Drake, Boy Stalker A Lonely Place of Dying better than A Death in the Family, but I still found the writing a smidge on the clunky side. I'm looking forward to reading some of the more recent stuff, which (I've been told) is not as clunky.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

At the F2F, Holli and I were talking about fic pairings, and she said she wanted to pair Dawn with Connor. *She* meant the Bon Bon version of Connor, but *I* was picturing Superboy. When I explained it, she made gleeful noises.

Hee. Superboy is Conner with an E. Though Dawn Connor from Green Arrow Connor? Funny, funny thought.

It's a monk thing.

Soooo, this means I theoretically could get a ride home from you on New Comic Days? Keen!

Yep.

an overblown libretto and a sumptuous score/ could never contain the contradictions I adore

Green Arrow Connor

Ooh. This has potential.

Really, my only criteria for Dawn-boyfriends is that they fight crime. I just think it'd be *fun*.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Also, I'd be remiss if I didn't recommend the early Marv Wolman/George Perez stuff in Titans, which went a long way toward defining him as Kid Flash (Plus, the wicked weird Kid Flash/Raven romance.)

Wolfman/Perez are also responsible for establishing the Nightwing identity as we know it today. Plus the Judas Contract kicked ass and is in TPB.

I think there's limited superhero comic analysis for a variety of reasons. Comics Journal is actively anti-superhero, and until recently the larger story arcs didn't sustain the kind of mythos which breeds fic.

The exception would be X-Men stuff, which was (in its time) the nearest equivalent to what Batman Family is doing now. (That is - completely redefining an entire comic company in its image and spinning off a berjillion titles and mini series.)

Also, I bought No Man's Land and add my Damn You All to the pile.

Dude, David, did you get 1-5?

You needs you some Cataclysm. Yes you do.

Err. Pimp hat does not come off.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

I bought No Man's Land and add my Damn You All to the pile.

Muahahahahaha!

Yeah, I probably do. Btw, Virgin Megastore in NOLA had Robin Year One on sale for 75% off. If you're near a Megastore you might want to swoop through their graphic novels section and see if you can find some bargains. I probably should've picked it up for the Buffista Comics Library.

I've only got No Man's Land 1 so far, though the rest is inevitable I expect.

I've been working on a song about the difference between analogy and metaphor.

I just had a boatload of comics stuff come in at my library. Which I can't pick up for two weeks. Curse you, wee Plei. I will need to console myself with manga and anime.

Is this the place to inflict with manga and anime ravings? Are we giving in and declaring this Comicsverse, or should I shut up and/or take it to natter

Micole, I think we bullshit consensed that this is Comicsverse, inclusive of all media -- print, TeeVee, movies, etc.
