FYI, JustKim posted in Book Club and didn't get a new post number. Wolfram "The Buffista Book Club: Isn't the Point of Computers to Replace Books?" Dec 28, 2004 10:47:00 am PST
I'm pretty sure it's not a sign of the apocalypse, but I figured y'all might want to know.

Maybe it was the result of the work ita was doing when she posted the above. No one had posted in the book club thread since 12/28, until today.
eta...
(In the link above, msbelle had the first post numbered 9194, and ita had the second, so the linky thing links to msbelle's, but the post to which I'm referring is just one post down.)
Noted in post 9194, Wolfram.
Which reminds me -- very few people have shown up to advocate for keeping stuff on the modification list.
The things that have been talked about that haven't been discussed or specced in detail are (I think) the style issue and the user pictures and tagline archiving.
I don't want my taglines attached to my posts -- I like that they all change. So that's me on that. I don't care about user pictures, but it's going to a) eat server space, b) require some coding hoops, and c) mean we have to get firm about what's appropriate and not.
As for the style thing -- I'm still of the opinion that offering set style sheets is the best option, not just from an implementation, but from an administration PoV.
Got it. I'm way behind on, well, everything.
ita, probably I'm misremembering, but I thought the pictures were supposed to be on the individual user pages, not near the posts themselves as in WX.
Also, I am you on the taglines, and don't know enough to have an opinion on the styles. Also also, you and the other administrators and programmers and people who keep making this board run smoother and better? You rock.
Where's the list of stuff being considered again?
I like not having pictures on the main board. all-text looks tidier and is less obvious to supervisors looking across the room.
Really, the only ones I would advocate for are having mark/block return to the same place on the page, and labeling bookmarks.
Nilly, the storage space isn't dependent on where they're displayed -- they'll be stored only the once, no matter if they're shown everywhere.
If it is decided that they should be on thread pages -- then I'd be vehemently for functionality similar to PF and WX -- the option to have or not have them displayed.
