Not having seen Firefly, I often have a "huh, guess you had to be there" reaction to those quotes. I can't recall the perfectly delicious delivery and be caught up in the memory - they just fall flat.
I think the Top 100 idea is great. That will give a nice nibble of the show, and inspire those like myself to remember the resolution to buy the dvds (like, right after I get a dvd player).
Think about it from another angle: The shows that ran several seasons should have a larger proportion of quotes. So cull a bunch of Firefly quotes, or expand the Buffy quotes to, what? 5000ish? Who wants to do that?
If someone steps up to manage it, I'll shoot them off a list of the Buffy/Angel quotes we already have.
Ok, I'm with you beathen - willing to help, but I have some questions about how best to be effective.
I'm guessing combing through the Quotables threads is a fine way to find them, and have a fair chance at not having to spend half an hour for each quote tracking down episode numbers and all.
But here's a question: How do I know for sure which quotes are already in the system? If there are 250 of them there, and I can only remember seeing about 70, I'm SOL for not doubling some of them.
I'm stictly canon-fodder here. Can spare the odd hour formatting quotey-things, but can't take on organizing and... like... responsibility and stuff.
If various people can only do bits of it, I guess you could hash out who does what here, and I can mass mail the list. Point is, it's available.
I'd prefer some sort of organisation, so I only get the one file.
I think that there is both too much firefly and not enough of everything else.
ita, how about you send it to me and I organize it? It's not like I've got enough to do. Sitting around eating bonbons all day and watching Firefly DVDs isn't as fulfilling as I'd hoped.
