Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Jesse is right, RIGHT I TELL YOU, that it should just be called user filter.

I swear to god, everything would be MUCH SIMPLER if I were just in charge.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Oh, Dana, for clarity, I LOVE YOU SO MUCH.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

Agreed that blinvisible is a whimsical term for someone at whom I've taken a fairly radical step. And that whatever term used will soon become invisible, like how we all were curious the first time a "this post deleted by" came up (it was Rio, IIRC, although that may have been on the test board), but is no longer even noticeable.

Also that people stating their intention to block someone is just garden variety assholishness that doesn't need to be warned against in advance.

Speaking of flouncing off the board....

Here's a quick question for filter makers. It filters out by ID number, right? Like I'm 59, so if people filter me, it filters all posts made by 59 not by Kat? So if I change my user name by Stompy fiat, people who filter me will still have me gone right?

But say I flounce and come back with a new name (or a sockpuppet) or my old name, people will have to refilter me, right?

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Yep, it's by number.

okey. good to know!

I'm pro user-filter and this post has been filtered.

And I do notice tag lines and deleted by/edited by lines.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I love blinvisible. And I think the whimsy is a good thing - I've already blocked this user, and so taken a concrete step. So maybe now I should embrace the funny instead of the frustration.

That said, can the list of blocked posters on the set profile page be titled "Wrongheaded Crackpots?"

Kidding, sort of.

Oh, and I hate ENUF. Not wild about Bozo filter either.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

having some kind of kill file, filter, or whatever is so old-hat that when I first joined this group (on WX) I hesitated to get too involved because I really felt like any board was badly broken without one

Yeah, but plonking is still an issue on USENET -- I see it done and bitched about to this day. And introducing the paranoia that you're posting to an empty room (and you're not actually a troll) is going to be a shift in board culture.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

A significant shift. One I'm not thrilled about, although I certainly respect and understand the need for it. It's just too bad.

Yeah, most of the people testing said they'd probably never use the filter.

I hope the shift in board culture won't be too severe.

As for me, thumbs up from this tester. I was never able to cause an error of any kind.
