Nah, lexine, I was talking about Gus's options and got the number wrong. Fixed now.
Buffistas Building a Better Board
Do you have problems, concerns or recommendations about the technical side of the Phoenix? Air them here. Compliments also welcome.
Ok -we both made the same numbering mistake.
I was not thinking that one made light anything, but I can see how others may interpret that differently. My thought was that this would not be used often and should make a bold statement. I would not want a stompy warning to be lost in the middle of a bunch of posts and thought number 4 stood out the most. That being said, either 1a or 1b might do the same, just a little less.
I like the ones that look like stamps the most. Wondering however, if the logo can be massaged to put the .org more under the Buffistas, so both can be bigger, relative to the rest of the text.
...added a "2d", reflecting ita's notion.
I like the boot. I think it shows some of the tone of the board without being flippant. The stamps don't seem as eye-catching or weighty, but if we go with one of them I'd say 2d is the best.
I like 1b.
I love the boot, but I agree with DX, that it might not look serious. So I would go for 1a.
I still like 2a the best. It's slightly whimsical without being flippant.
I like the stamp ones, mostly because we have plenty of rectangles on the site, but no circles, so those will stand out more. I kind of like the boots, but can see the argument against them.
I half share DX's objection, but then can't help but wondering if the humor of the boot might help.
I am not sure how to articulate this, but I see the warning as being used for an incident more serious than a trip in the guac, and yet, one from which a poster ought to be able to come back (I mean regain social standing and comfort). I guess I am thinking particularly of Schmoker/mieskie. Despite a lot of the nonsense, I can't help but think if we'd approached him differently somehow, eventually, he would have mellowed and been okay, here.
It was like he had a massive guac trip, that managed to spatter onto others. When we pointed that out, somehow, instead of him wanting to clean up the guac, he chucked it at us. Maybe what I'm trying to ask is: would a little lightheartedness be helpful? It seems to me our biggest kerfluffles of any kind come when we take t whatever issue at hand too seriously.
