It sounds as if they just wanted to destroy the whole "lurkers support me in email" line of argument at its source.

So that's where they went. Next we'll find out you took all the 1's as well.
Speaking of which, here are some stats for Minearverse in the two weeks following Tim's announcement of the cancellation. (So ~6:00 pm PDT 4/3/04 - ~6:00 pm PDT 4/17/04.)
New registrations: 229
New users who posted: 99
(This does not count people who registered prior to the announcement, and then delurked after. There are a few of those as well, but I didn't look at that.)
New users who've only posted once: 47
New users who post "regularly" in Minearverse: 23 (10%)
(These are users who have posted multiple times on multiple days. They account for 88% of the posts by new users in Minearverse.)
Existing users (including delurkers) who posted: 157
Existing users who've only posted once: 29
(Didn't attempt to count "regulars" for this category.)
Total posts in Minearverse for the period: 6120
Total posts by new users in Minearverse for the period: 1489 (24%)
% of Posts by New Users by Day
Date % 03-Apr-04 19% 04-Apr-04 12% 05-Apr-04 24% 06-Apr-04 17% 07-Apr-04 15% 08-Apr-04 22% 09-Apr-04 26% 10-Apr-04 24% 11-Apr-04 36% 12-Apr-04 33% 13-Apr-04 18% 14-Apr-04 32% 15-Apr-04 52% 16-Apr-04 28% 17-Apr-04 37%
Don't know if any of this means anything. Basically, we've picked up a lot of new users, but the old users are still pretty chatty as well.
Next we'll find out you took all the 1's as well.
I call dibs on the 2's!
All your 1's & 0's are belong to me. I am binary.
Edited to add: You know, speaking of improperly placed natter.
Back on the warning graphic front... After a better review of the discussion and several failed attempts to make anything with a Doc Martin in it look anything but funny, it came back to this, for me.
Cutesy of any kind didn't seem to match up with the proposed use.
eta: Oops, messed up the URL, it is all better, now.
(never mind)
You need to replace the dot after images with a slash.
Jon, how do you see that being displayed? Left justified in the posting space?
Left justified in the posting space?
That's what I was thinking. Though I still like the round one or the one with the footprint.
