Buffistas Building a Better Board
Do you have problems, concerns or recommendations about the technical side of the Phoenix? Air them here. Compliments also welcome.
Is the UI going to be just what was in the spec above? Or is there a separate interface for a MARCIE manager?
The spec in Paul's post (linked to above) mentioned a Marcie Manager on the Set Profile page, but I can't remember if we marked that up. Honestly, I can't remember anything of what we did, except that we definitely did something.
Question!
Say if I MARCIE scrappy, and she changed her name to Robin (like THAT would ever happen), would it affect my filter? Or does it go by number?
It's way more efficient, database-wise, to do it by number, so that's what the current spec says.
t edit Except that Robin didn't change her username. She re-registered under the new name. Obviously, you'd have to re-Marcie a user if they did that.
It would go by number. So you'd be fine in that situation. But if scrappy then reregistered as The Scrap Is Back as an entirely new id, you'd have to nix that id as well. Although hopefully, we wouldn't be having that sort of problem without dealing with it in other ways as well.

It would go by number. When Perkins changed to Lee, she had ita change the name associated with the user number, so if you'd MARCIE'd Perkins, Lee would be ignored, too. However, when scrappy changed her name, she created a new ID, so if you had scrappy on your MARCIE list, you'd have to add Robin to it as well.
okey doke, thanks!
OK, for the MARCIE filter, I had spec'ed out a revised editprofile page, but not the showthread page. At the time, Paul told me he didn't need the latter because the changes were pretty clear from the convo here. However, since it's been awhile, I whipped something up and emailed sample html for both pages over to Rob.
OK. If usability's a concern, I can give it the ol' hairy eyeball over the weekend.
(By the way, OmniGraffle RAWKS for sitemapping.)
