"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

I'm with Vortex. I'd like a search functionality, not to bring up all of the contact info, just to bring up their user profile, which people can leave blank if they so choose. And I'd like it for selfish reasons (I'm always looking for where I put OC quotes and I know they're in my own profile).

Also, now that we are somewhere new I have three questions:

1. Should we start collecting $$ for fees? What's our balance like?

2. What's up with user filter?

3. Now that we are here, will we please be getting the quote generator for the top-of-the-page quote? As much as I like the woodstock quote, I'm up for something new.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Money-wise, we're ok for a few months. HOWEVER, this does not mean that if any Buffistas are feeling flush, they should not feel free to send me money. Paypal or email for address to donations@buffistas.org. I'll do up a financial report maybe this weekend.

hip deep in pie

I think in the past there have been strong privacy objections to this very notion. Which is why Deena has created a private opt-in collection of contact emails and phone numbers and gift-preferences.

I don't know if I'm the only one, but I really don't know anything about this. I only learned about it because Deena pimped it to us in Atlantic Canadians, and I really thought she had one of us as a secret santa, and was being sneaky to get info for her gift.

How are you me? You need to stop that. Only I can be me. ~Kara

This is because Deena is sneaky, yes. I'll post in Press about it. Apologies to anyone who didn't get to take advantage who wanted to.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

User filter is on the list of code mods, but we haven't finished settling in here yet -- stuff like mailing lists, etc have to be installed.

Once that's done -- code.

We also need a re-listing of people willing to code.

I'm with DX on this one. I thought about that before I posted, and I figured that if you could choose not to reveal your address in your profile, you wouldn't be in the database. plus, you wouldn't have to reinvent the wheel.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

I thought about that before I posted, and I figured that if you could choose not to reveal your address in your profile, you wouldn't be in the database.

This. And anyway, not being able to find someone is an artefact of the search feature being shut off when we were having server troubles. If we can get search back (which I assume we'd want to test as we get up to speed here), we're golden.

(iirc, those privacy objections were to giving people access to rl names, addresses, phone numbers, and the like -- nobody ever objected to giving out the information that's already in our profiles.)

All of which doesn't mean that a more refined search shouldn't be somewhere on the feature list, but that's a different thing and would take a bit of thinking about features.

Ann, that's a ferret.

iirc, those privacy objections were to giving people access to rl names, addresses, phone numbers, and the like -- nobody ever objected to giving out the information that's already in our profiles.

This is a good line to me. If it's in the profile, we can already access it by clicking on the name. And with a general search function, we could access the profile anyway.

Beyond that, I'd object to anything that goes further than Deena's opt-in project.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

In the links page, under "Core Buffista Links," nothing is listed. Is that on purpose?
