Mal: Well, you were right about this being a bad idea. Zoe: Thanks for sayin', sir.

I logged into the demo control panel and it's showing SMTP/POP3/IMAP. You might want to take a look around in there.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Okay, I'm evidently missing stuff. Where'd that link come from?

Do you see the little question mark icons next to some of the features? If you click on them, they take you to other pages with more information.

D'oh. I started clicking on them, but they were boring. They saved the fun for next to last.

It's going to be a fun ride.

I'm assuming there's a separate account management control panel but I'm not sure. I didn't see any other links.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

I have some unused space and access to broadband. I presume one threadsucks and saves the results? Anyone want to assign me some threads? I'll do them - well Tuesday, because today from 1:00 P.M. on and a good part of Monday are pretty well slammed.

OK. I really hate to say this, but:

Since we won't be hosting Buffistas.org for much longer, and you're all eyeing another Web host pretty strongly, we're going to make arrangements to downgrade back to a resellers account, from a semidedicated account. I'm sure you understand that, being a fledgling business, we have to watch every last penny.

What does this mean to you? We won't have the same amount of Web space, bandwidth and MySQL connections. If you are still going to be here past Nov. 30, this will most likely bring about the return of the dreaded error messages and possibly not being able to reach the board at all.

So I guess what I'm saying is, do you think you'll be moving by the end of the month? If we could know by Friday, that would be quite helpful to us in determining our future business plans.

Again, thank you for giving our services a chance, and I'm sorry we weren't able to meet the Buffistas' needs.

I think the end of the month should be a target.

Let's assemble tasks:

  • Question iStrata (I have some about provided software -- are there others?) [ita]
  • Archiving (underway -- we need to decide how many of the closed threads should be archived) [DX]
  • Signing up [Jesse]
  • Configuring [techies - ita/TomS?]
  • Move buffistas.net DNS to point to iStrata [Jesse]
  • Test migration to buffistas.net on iStrata [ita, w/Steven's help]
  • Test banging on buffistas.net [team of volunteers]
  • shut down b.org
  • Migrate code and data to iStrata[ita]
  • Move buffistas.org DNS to iStrata [Jesse]
  • Go live
