Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

My idea of Marcie is for me to make the board I want. Just me. Not to make the posters be the people I want. I would have a fit at feedback.

I bop to Wittgenstein. -- Nutty

Or do you dislike to the idea of allowing folks to know that they are speaking to a room full of people with their backs turned and fingers stuffed in their ears?

I have no problem with the fact that people might be ignoring me. That's a fact of life. However, I for one never want to have my suspisons confirmed. I don't want a message that says 'you are being ignored'.

Edit: or, what they just said.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I think what Rob is proposing is very much like Jim's whiffle/whuffie/whatever.

I think it is probably something that we will get to talk about in the 3rd round of things, although I sensed at WX that most people were against it.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

And even more strongly, I think that telling people "7 users are currently filtering you" is ugly and paranoia-inducing for the same reasons I absolutely hated whuffie or whatever the hell it was called.

Yeah, ditto. Especially if someone just annoys me for no good reason. There's nothing to "call" them on, and other people like them a lot. It's just my issue, and I'd rather not get into it, or cause the person and upset.

That said, I'm pretty sure I'll never hide anyone, because I'm too nosy -- I'd always click through to see their posts! (I tried it once on TT.)

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

optionally to provide them with feedback on why you don't want to read their posts.

A second goal is to allow Phoenix users to know what percentage of their posts are being ignored, and to read feedback, if available, about why they are being ignored.

Oh, boy, do I not want to get into this. It was bad enough at TT (the entire board, not necessarily our threads) when someone would announce "I'm ENUFing you!" and then we had to deal with the ENUFed person either saying "I don't care! I'm a rebel!" or "Yeah, I'm ENUFing you too, you freak!" and then 19 people ENUFing the other people out of sheer irritation.

I don't see the purpose of a filter as behavior modification. I see it as a way to make my life and my board experience easier.

OK, I don't agree with most of these points, but I also don't care enough to argue about it. Please consider my suggestion withdrawn.

Rob, I actually think it something that should be raised for Formal Discussion at some point, assuming it's technically doable.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Hide/Blinvisible or whatever! I love the idea. I also have a question, would it be possible to have a Hide feature for the poster. Let's say I have something really long and draggy that I want feedback on but I don't want the whole board to have to scroll past it.

I'd love a feature where I could hide my own post, but make it clickable so others could see if they feel like clicking or not (an example is I want feedback on my application for the writing fellowship I'm applying to, but I don't feel compelled to force EVERYONE to read it. I'd love a functionality where I could hide my post and those who want to click through could).

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Simple. Instead of 'hide' use 'Make blinvisible'. And then 'Unblinvisiblise'.

Cute, but too long a word for where it would appear on the page. I'd rather just have it as part of what replaces the text of the post like Noumenon's original suggestion: "Text of post rendered blinvisible by Marcie" (in tiny tagline-sized font) or something similar.

If you have server space somewhere, you could just put it there and post a link to it here.
