It's all about choices, Faith. The ones we make, and the ones we don't. Oh, and the consequences. Those are always fun.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

... Would there be some possible way, some day, of being able to mark some posts as unread? You know, like you read them, but you ask it to and it forgets that you read them, so they're later presented as new. I'd really like that, but tell me if it's just silly.

Posts can only be marked unread from post #x to the end of the thread. The idea of being able to "reset" how far you've read a particular thread was broght up at some point and is definitely doable. As long as you don't mean unmarking non-consecutive posts, or a block of posts in the middle of a thread, because that's insane troll logic.

Yup, that's what I'd meant.

Shininess.

Ficht nicht mit Der Raketemensch!

I'd like a "welcome" image on the front page somewhere which lists/scrolls new membernames as they register. Just for fun, really. Like the quote, but just saying: "Buffista registration #54343 - Jim'zaHOTTIE! - Welcome!" on each page.

My guess is that not all users neccessarily want to be "welcomed". They like to lurk.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Right. Do not startle the Buffistas...

We should shine a light into their dark lurking places! Or not, actually. Good point. Still, it would've been cool.

I'm thinking especially of V.I.P.'s.

I'm kinda against it, for the same lurkity reasons.

Nobody

People don't have to register to lurk though, do they? I kind of like knowing there are new members. If they cared enough to join, I expect they'll delurk at some point. I don't like the lists of "who's currently logged on at the site", but that's different from a new member list.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

People have to register to lurk easily, because the board won't "mark as read" if you're not logged in.

I don't know about announcing new members names as they register, but it might be cool to have just a counter.
