Thank you. I just changed it.
(I'm trying to sever all publicly-available connections from my online name to my professional name. I got a *real* shock when an editor who'd accepted my poems wrote back saying,
OK, [realname]; or should I call you Rebecca....
Scary.)
Why do you feel the need to change so often?
Because I put it up to 200+ to catch up in Natter, down to 3 or 4 to post in a thread I've read but not replied to when I don't want to wait while I download 100s of posts, and back to a reasonable 100 again after that. Because I read the posts in a thread like Literay, decide I have nothing to say, go to catch up in Natter, think of something to say, and would rather change my posts-per-page (which I will soon be referring to as a my PPP), than wait while my slow connection deals with 200 posts I have already read.
But no matter your PPP, you only get the unread posts in a thread, I think, right?
If you have unread posts. It's when I want to go back to a thread I've read, to post in it, that I'm getting into changing my PPP so often.
Edit to add: Big number!
This board fails to correct or delete posts that are just plain stupid. I can't help feeling that's a flaw.

It also continues to show posts by people who are drunk, Angus.

We can't be held accountable for you guys not using the latest in browser technology. You have to take some responsibility too.

Uh. I've got my permanently set to 20, and just went to Sunnydale Press, where there were no unread messages, and I got only the one most recent message. It didn't try to display 20.
I'm confused-- is that what you were talking about?
If you choose 20, 20 is your maximum page size. If there were 20 or more unread posts you would get 20. If there were fewer than 20 unread posts then you get that number.
If you hit recent you get the most recent 20 post. (Clicking on a thread where you have read everything is the same as hitting recent. Clicking on a thread with unread posts gives you those posts)
If you hit previous and there are more than 20 prior posts, you get the previous 20 posts. If you hit next and there are 20 or more posts remaining after the last one on your current page you get 20. And so on.
