So, how'd we do, bandwidth-wise, in November? And has there been any movement toward putting our archives off-site?
Buffistas Building a Better Board
Do you have problems, concerns or recommendations about the technical side of the Phoenix? Air them here. Compliments also welcome.
November was pretty low: 1,608,4880k. See what difference you can make switching to 5 minute refresh?
stompatron
I love this. Or Stompomatic.
You realise of course that if someone's bad typist enough to enter, say:
<a href="[URL]' target="_blank'>
it won't detect it, but hopefully that's a very unusual scenario...
But it won't break the board either, which is the main reason we want the stompatron.
It might. The single quote in the middle will be ignored, and the single quote at the end will wait forlornly for its one-true-single-quote, consuming and discarding much HTML along the way.
Well, it had to happen sooner or later. I think I goofed. While trying to close Spike's Bitches 1, I seem to have moved it to archived threads. Now I can't seem to move it back.
You don't need to close threads anymore, victor. Well, actually, I was the only one that could, since I'd not written that code yet.

Ah. That explains it. Still, I think I'm going to refrain from trying to be useful and stick to whiting out spoilers and the like.
oops wrong thread.
DCJ, what formatting are you losing?
OK here's a thing.
I want to send personal email to Buffista X.
I don't have their email address handy.
They haven't posted lately.
Their profile may or may not contain their email address, because that's an option.
My powers as an admin allow me to go and find it, but the page doesn't allow me to see whether they want their email public or private. So using that method to find their email address would be an abuse of my stompy-footed powers.
Also as that method is only available to stompies, not fair to non-stompies.
The solution is to use the search engine to find a post by the user, click on their name and find their email address, if it's public. But it's not a great solution.
