'Objects In Space'

Heroes 1: We Could Be Heroes

[NAFDA]. This is where we talk about the show and ancillary materials such as web comics! Anything that's aired in the US (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though -- if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it. Chuffa, Chuffa!

Our wings are not tired.

His message included asking to visit his website at votepetrelli.com which is a bit different today too. [link]

Usually when I don't recognize the caller id I don't answer. Almost wish I hadn't because then I would have the recording.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Woo! Nathan Petrelli just called my cell phone and asked for my vote. Hee, he's got it.

Neat! I haven't gotten a call yet. I did register with the site, so I hope I get one. I'm easily amused.

Cooool! Oh, Internet.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

What is even happening?

I apologize about sounding so dismayed, and I have to admit, I agree about the navigation on the Web comics. But for the most apart, I do think Kring and co. have done a good job of providing extras that add depth and texture to the world they've created, without making them so essential that you're lost if you don't watch them, although I see why it can be annoying if you're constantly reminded they exist (as you would be on this and other boards.)

But I don't think you can fault them for searching for ways to hook in viewers and keep their attention, especially in this business climate, and I appreciate their willingness to constantly flesh out their world.

No, and objectively, I cheer them. As a tired human who is also a completist, I feel like I'm going to kick myself in the ass for missing something, but I don't have the drive to chase after it. Spoon feed me, baby.

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

I think the comics are pretty brilliant. I mean, I gave up reading them on the website, and download the pdfs, which are way less of a headache (I don't even visit network websites any more, since there is general blockage of stuff from non-Nor' Americans). But I think the concept of additional interactive media is very appealing, especially if you're fannish about the show. It's exactly the sort of material I myself would create--except they offer it to you. I think being able to utilize what they consider to be new media, or adapt their product to existing, different media, is the smart way to go, especially to appeal to the younger age bracket. I don't view it as work. I view it as fan-oriented goodies.

30 weeks of original episodes sounds cool to me. I am curious, however, about how they're going to pull that off from a production standpoint.

I like the comics but I do find them difficult. What I really want is a paper version of the comics to come with the dvds.

I don't know if they're coming out with the DVDs or not but the writers have mentioned a deal in the works to publish the comics in handy book form.

Well, since the Origins won't deal with any of the regular cast, I wonder if they'll, I don't know, just shove it off on second-unit, you know? Kind of like how the comics are done by just a couple people on the writing staff. I imagine the regular writers and Kring might oversee the project but not be as hands-on.

I like the idea of seeing random new characters, because powers are fun, but the whole "voting" thing is bad. We don't need American Hero. (Or America's Got Powers.)

I'd be surprised if this were the case. If it was web or mobile content, absolutely. But this is original programming that's going to air in your timeslot on your network with your name on it. Presumably in the hope that you'll keep your viewers all season long. I would think not having good quality control would only dilute the brand and hurt the show.

Oh and I just realized Bryan Fuller must be leaving the show. (Since his show was ordered by ABC.) I wonder who they're going to get to replace him.
