Heroes 1: We Could Be Heroes
[NAFDA]. This is where we talk about the show and ancillary materials such as web comics! Anything that's aired in the US (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though -- if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it. Chuffa, Chuffa!
I, too, noticed Lydia's name. And I like kat's plan.
I find the carnival an interesting idea, and I hope they don't fuck it up. Watching the plot line, I was thinking "I am tempted to distrust him because the character I identify the actor with was untrustworthy, but this character hasn't given me too much cause for it, besides the directive to kill people, but, in this Universe, that's par for the course. Why does he want to gather the Heroes?" I'm not sure what his power is, anyway. Unless he's a Sylar. I'm not sure what's up with the ink, if that's in the ink or the inker, and if there's some kind of synergy with Lydia's power.
I did find a couple of the back-pictures at the end a bit hard to decipher ("That's Peter..and that's either Claire or Ali-Larter's-current-character...and...that's the end of the episode. Ok"), but I had some of that problem, at times, with the comic book art, too.
Oh, I can think of a million ways to get Peter Petrelli nearly nekkid.
I want to know what's up with the knife boy. Are the knives a part of the power? Does he generate knives along with the super speed? Because that could open up a whole nother world of possible avenues to Petrelli nekkidness.
They caught me up for at least a few more episodes, damn them.
I particularly liked Pasdar's solo scenes, he's knocking it out of the ball park as Not!Quite!Right!Nathan....
I am just started watching this weeks Heroes, and Claire's roommate is even more evil than Buffy's was.
ETA: And now I feel bad for posting that.
Also, Noah's speech about connecting to people reminds me a lot of Doyle's speech to Angel in the first episode of "Angel".
And now I feel bad for posting that.
Yeah. I've known a million kids like her. They're far more brittle than they let on, so that pinged ... well ... OK for me. as odd as it is to say, I'm glad it was a suicide. It's dumb and it's tragic, but it's human, and I think Claire needs at least a little of that right now, characterwise.
Just watched the episode on demand (thank you, S.J., for the tip) and have to say, I didn't hate it. In fact, it did a lot right that didn't involve Matt Parkman or Sylar/Nathan. (And actually, I'm liking AP's handling of the situation, so there's that.)
HRG and Peter had a good Batman/Superman vibe going again, and I like the way they pulled back on Tracy and didn't drag out the homicidal rampage.
There seems to be some effort to bring the characters back into balance with the world again, and I appreciate it. there's been some ... missteps ... in the past two seasons, and I think it's a smart idea to dial down the scale a little bit, put the focus back on the characters, and not their powers. If they forget dumb things like Claire's magic blood ever existed, I'll be OK with that.
Digging the carnival crew, although the Hiro angle is ... odd. Glad to see his sister again, though, and am happy for Ando. All in all, a mixed bag, but not an unworkable one. The show is still banished to watching on demand, as opposed to being taped ("House" and "Dancing with the Stars" get the DVR's only two recording slots) but I'm still with it. For now. If they can keep that lens tight, I'll stick around.
I think that the pics at the end were parkman, claire and hiro.
Compass is definitely a hero detector, but I'm not surprised that HRG didn't get that, since he thinks that no one else knows about the heroes. Plus, Peter's the only other person who's touched it.
Not sure how I feel about HRG/Tracy. The vibe is there, I don't know where I want them to go with it.
Carnival guy is creepy, but carnies are inherently evil, everybody knows that! Or they have a heart of gold and take in anyone who needs help. One or the other. The creepy calliope music signals evil, I think.
Side note: I saw the actor who plays Mohinder on psych last week. it was weird to hear his normal voice, but refreshing that his character on psych was also an idiot.
Unlike what I saw of last season (I gave up about half way through), I didn't hate every minute. I was even happy giving up two hours to it. So that's an improvement.
I thought the focus on Claire and Hiro was a very good idea. It took us back to the tone of the beginning of season one, somewhat. Still a lot of problems with the show, but I'll watch next week.
Question - the only thing I couldn't figure out from the helpful-but-obvious expository dialogue. Who is this woman that Parkman is with, and is that his son? And wheat happened to Molly?
Who is this woman that Parkman is with,
His estranged/divorced wife.
and is that his son?
Yes.
And wheat happened to Molly?
Hay, we oat to be told, but the season is barley begun, maybe they corn face the flax and rice to the challenge of bringing her back with out it bean spelt out by viewer kamuts.
