I'm pulling for the swordsmith's daughter to be the one doing the legendary asskicking.
Somehow this is reminding me of that lovely young armor-maker in Knight's Tale that I kept thinking was a) going to kick ass and b) going to marry Heath Ledger, but instead he ended up with that horrible low affect princess!
I sort of miss the sweet cute girl that Hiro met in the diner who died. What I really want is for Hiro to be a viable romantic interest, not just cute Asian geek dude. Of course, I still want Peter and Claire to not be related, so...
Oh, noes, it's another one of Nathan's bastage children flying around, sending incest vibes to Claire (she seems to attract them, huh?)
Bwah! But do powers breed true, or is it a coincidence? Until the end, I thought that kid might actually be Peter watching over Claire from deep cover, having picked up chameleon powers along the way.
Well, that was interesting. Any theories on what, exactly, Maya's power is--other than "don't scare me or people die"?
Projective Ebola? Blue glove rays?
I don't think Hiro will be his own grandpa. I suspect something more like that Xena episode where she secretly helped Odysseus defeat the cyclops, sirens, etc. (My personal favorite was when she helped him bend the sword while hiding under the table).
Also, the preview hinted that Kensei has a power. There
was
an eclipse shortly after Hiro landed and we've been led to believe that's when powers manifest.

She's channelling Amy Irving and Andrew Stevens in THE FURY? Which means if she gets really pissed off/scared she might make somebody blow up real good.
It's amazing, thinking how I perceive Mr. Bennet now vs. my first impressions of him in last season's first episode.
He's a wonderful actor.
I am very miffed that Hiro's dad his dead, especially without us learning what his power was.
With any luck it involves surviving getting knocked off of buildings.
Stephen Tobolowsky. He's been in a ton of stuff (Deadwood, for example, and he was Ned Ryerson in GROUNDHOG DAY).
And Sammy Jankis in
Memento.
And the original Principal Flutie.
Maya's power is clearly to induce promicin death.
Overall assessment: Kinda stupid, kinda fun.
Ha, yeah, my thoughts exactly. I'm looking forward to seeing where they go with this storyline. I loved Molly's Two Dads, and poor Claire trying to be unexceptional, and amnesiac!Peter, and the Dread Pirate Kensei. My kittens are on Nathan or Claire's creepy new stalker being Mr. Nakamura's killer, which means of course it won't be either of them.
We didn't see Niki, D.L., or Micah at all; was there anyone else missing in this episode? Also, was Mrs. Bennet mindwiped again, or is she just pretending? I'm hoping she's really in on the whole plan.
was there anyone else missing in this episode?
The Haitian. WHO NEEDS A NAME.
I think the killer of the generation 1.0 would have to be someone much older than West. One of the remaining seven, as it were.
The runaway Latino sibs reminded me strongly of Simon and River. Which was even more enhanced by Maya's power resembling the Blue Glowstick-y Hemorrhagic Death from "Ariel".
The Haitian. WHO NEEDS A NAME.
I briefly thought the Haitian was one of the Irish dudes breaking into the iPod thingie. Then he spoke (my TV reception is fuzzy)
