I thought we had already established that some people do best by allowing themselves little indulgences in their diets and that other people did much better by have clear bright lines and strict diets that they don't deviate from.
Group 1: Food gets too much power and you feel like a failure when you lapse.
Group 2: Prone to cheating and once they cheat a little they start to cheat a lot.
Eat whatever you want on your birthday, but if you want to give yourself a birthday gift - eat something that is good for you too.
What a great idea! Maybe instead of my diet food (which is good for me, but most of the lunches are fair-to-middling, at best), I'll go to the salad bar at work and mix up my favorite salad, with lettuce, bell peppers, carrots, celery, scallions, a little bit of hard-boiled egg, and tuna, and make sure I use a light hand with the honey-mustard dressing. That's something I've been craving for a while, and would be a good thing to have for my birthday!
What about someone who's in both groups?

I think I want Kathy's salad.
I just about dumped the contents of my bag out the open window. Which would be bad because accessing where things fell would be pretty close to impossible.
Why am I yawning?
That's a fine sounding salad right there.
IV drip.
Ha! If they'd give me that and one of those electrostimulator things that work your muscles without you having to move, well, I'd be set.

And here I am, feeding myself like a sucker!

Come on over--I'll make two! Before I was on this diet the first time, back in 1998/9, I always disliked bell peppers, but having them on the diet, I came to really love them, in all forms. I could take out the lettuce from that list and triple up the amount of peppers and still be happy with the salad (although the lettuce does provide moisture and a nice crunch).
ETA: I'll make a third for Nora, too!
