Why don't you try being a bit more positive, just in case it hasn't been filled. I work for government, and there are times where it has taken almost that long for a position to be filled. (Then again there was the time I interviewed for a job at a place and they never responded to any of my inquiries about the position afterwards.)

What about something like:

I had an interview with you on {date} for the {blank} position, and I was wondering if you have made a final decision about filling the position.

I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to consider me. I enjoyed meeting you and having the opportunity to talk to you about the position. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

and she's bought David's books, and Erin's books,

It's been awhile since we spoke so I'm assuming that you've hired someone else.

It could be taken as passive-aggressive, and there's a chance the position might still be open.

Instead I would say something like, "I'm writing to inquire about the status of [position], for which I interviewed on [date] with [person]. [Insert specific thing discussed at interview to help jog memory.]

If the position has been filled, I wanted to thank you for taking the time to speak with me. I enjoyed meeting with you, and hope you will consider me for any future opportunities.

Once again, thank you for your time and consideration."

Thanks guys. I knew it didn't sound right, but couldn't figure out how else to say it. It is supposed to be a thank you note, but I'm hoping the job really is still available.

I'm just very impatient because I'm also trying to use it as leverage with my current employer. The same kind of position is opening up and it's what I really want to do, plus I need the pay raise. I'm just driving myself crazy because these guys aren't making their minds up fast enough for me.

I'm having a tiny nervous break down.

I don't know. Of course, after posting my angst, I downloaded Joan Baez's version of Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts and the Decemberists' Perfect Crime #2 and that merged nicely with a crime story-telling with the Prison Trilogy (Billy Rose) and Murder in the Trailer Park by Cowboy Junkies and Lou Reed's Adversary. Mckennit's Highwayman and a bunch of CCR and whatnot. Oooh, and Tori Amos's Past the Mission and All along the Watchtower Theme there? Storytelling crime(kinda) and repercussions.

But that's been in my head for a while. I've got another, southern something. Roadtrip. Maybe. I've got 3 songs for that.

Anyway, it makes me kinda crazy. I tend to listen to albums or wtmd. I don't have to think, and apparently, I prefer that.

edit: basically, it depends. Sometimes I want a narrational theme, sometimes a musical one. Sometimes a mood, sometimes something else. If it is a mood, I'm likely to go with complete albums. My brain, it is a PITA.

My latest inspirations for playlists were girls' names or the names of cities. I haven't made either yet, but I have thought about it.
