I went to his hotel room once, does that count? Not with him or anything. My best friend from junior high was helping him out at a con and we went up to get something.
Didn't have any real interaction with him -- I had no opinion about Scotch to relate, so I stayed on the other end of the conversation pool. Talking about computer science, probably. As one does.
ETA: So I guess one could say I definitely don't know him. But I guess he's about a half-degree away, Kevin-Bacon-wise.
I think Deb knows him in a literary sense, which was why the connection came to mind. Exploit all angles, say I. I wish I had a better angle other than the crazy bookstore-owning cousin.
