See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

I was under the impression that there's very little evidence that Jesus actually lived.

IIRC from the last big honkin' book on the subject I read (which was long before the pregnancy and is thus a completely vague and detail-free memory), the main problem is that there's very little evidence that anyone back then lived -- if you weren't a wealthy man or in government or both, there was very little reason for anyone to record your existence at all (maybe birth and death records in temples, unfortunately easily destroyed).

There are a couple of glancing mentions (i.e., not pronouncements with any agenda pro or con, just "Oh, and here's word from the provinces") of Jesus' execution and a kerfuffle among his siblings and friends in the works of two historians of the time, about as much mention as you'd expect of someone poor and obscure who pissed off the authorities in a not-terribly-important corner of a huge empire and got himself smacked down as a result. It isn't much, but it's more than exists for most 2000-year-ago Palestinian peasants.

But, man, that whole Cameron thing sounds exactly like a rehash of the book folks were claiming Davinci Code plagiarized from, which IIRC (caveat again: post-pregnancy brain) is a book that most reputable historians have been @@ing at since forever anyway.

Oh, Kat! I'm getting tired just reading about the sick and the sestinas and grad school. Bless your OB for the codeine.

And holy crap, having caught up completely I am now craving eggy custardy ice cream like woah. Unfortunately, it's only 7:44 a.m.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

“There are four or five generals and admirals we know of who would resign if Bush ordered an attack on Iran,” a source with close ties to British intelligence said. “There is simply no stomach for it in the Pentagon, and a lot of people question whether such an attack would be effective or even possible.”

That'd be amazing. Although the list of principled resignations of good people from this administration over one wrong action or policy after another is already pretty long, and they haven't made a damn bit of difference to any of the wrong actions and policies. Bleah.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Kat, I hope your coughing goes away as soon as possible. I live in mortal fear of that part of colds, and I'm not even incubating. I can't imagine the nastiness, and as with any nastiness I can't imagine, I want my friends spared.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

The coughing gets better and worse. A couple of days ago, I was coughing so much that it made me throw up a couple of times (charming, eh?), but all in all, it's okay. I'll be fine.

I WISH I was a 1940's dame so I could be pregnant and still have both stylish clothes and a gin and tonic.

Okay, thesis work? Not so fun. I just found out I deleted my outline accidentally. Luckily I printed a copy before I deleted.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

It is snowing like whoa here, and we have to go to the supermarket. Oh, joy.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Latest weather forecast for here is that the Giant Snowstorm o' Doom is supposed to be skirting New England mostly -- unless it changes its mind.

I find that I've mostly passed from the "Oh no, not again, when will this Winter ever leave us?" stage to the "If we can hold on just a leeetle bit more, we'll finally have Spring!" state of mind.

Clear thinking with your thesis work, Kat.

I really want to take my black belt test now. I'm done preparing. Not saying that I'm ready to pass. Just that I won't be significantly more ready in four weeks. So I want it now.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Okay, so I overslept. It looks like no church this morning and we'll be heading into the studio shortly. Or at least the SO will, while I finish prepping for the trip here.

I am grumpy about it, so I had chocolate chip cookies and Irish Afternoon tea for breakfast. It didn't make me feel better, but it did taste good. Now I have got to get going like whoah.

Oh yeah, and all the other dogs in the neighborhood are barking, but mine, who is usually so barky, nsm. I clearly lack an understanding of the importance of dog topics.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

However, Josie at the Alembic is definitely still there and she's very cool and makes excellent drinks. The Alembic has an impressive selection of Scotch and Whiskey. And since they're an off-shoot of Magnolia Brewing (where I took Nora), they've got many fine beers there as well.

puts Alembic on the list

I'm supposed to be doing school work but I'm not. I'm telling myself I'm getting all the internet futzing done and out of the way first.

So relieved that Jesse made it through the night without being consumed by her bread dough!

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Ha. Now she can consume her bread dough. So much better.
