Well, it was from me riding the damned clutch when I know better than to do that. That's what is making me cranky. I was just so focused on getting unstuck that I let that slide. Stupid clutch is only 5 years old. At least the death of that one wasn't my fault. I'm ok with (well, resigned to ) things just falling apart because they have a finite life, but ...Rrrg. Since you have AAA, make sure you ask if you can a discounted rate on a rental. But what Matt said; you should be able to get a car for a few days pretty cheap ($40/day actually sounds high to me for around here, but it's been a while.)

Last winter, after we totaled our car, I think we got a car from enterprise for 29 bucks a day.

If you have a way to get to the airport, I've gotten good deals off Hotwire. But at least here, they're only at the airport... Edit: Nevermind, for this weekend in Balto, they only have "Premium" cars at $40/day anyway.

Yeah, I'm getting anything from $18-30 base quoted online from the places nearby (and I've got rental coverage on my credit card, so I can waive a lot of the add ons.) I'm gonna try the locally owned one first because they claim to do free acquisition/de-acquisition service and that would be such a relief.
