Sean, my whines are *nothing* compared to what you and S. are going through.

Nah. It's not all that. At least this weeknd wasn't. We've been through much worse.

Ye gods. It's like it's becoming "old hat."

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

so sorry steph. this is just a bit toomuch.

My fustrations today are 1) I left my cell phone at work, but not sure which work. and I can't do anything about it until tomorrow or possible wednesday.

2) I have errands to run, but in order not to go out twice, I have to wait for another hour.

3) i have a house in need of cleaning. bizzarely, I don't clean very effectively in the am. so nothing is happening in this hour.

4) I just realized what time matt texted my email about his new job. this is leading to mixed emotions.

5none of my annoyances are that big - just a nibbled to death by ducks day.

And, yeah. I've had to remind people that broth made with meat? Still not vegetarian-friendly.

It's like people who aren't veg, close to it or close to someone who is, just don't get it. Like they can't wrap their heads around:

"You mean you really eat nothing but side dishes???? Okay, well if you only eat vegetables, here's a Cobb salad."

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

they bring her beef or chicken broth every time, despite it saying VEGETARIAN on her chart and her menu card in BIG FRIGGIN' LETTERS

That is so unbelievably irritating, and so sadly typical.

That's it. I'm totally working on a care package for S, including some good-quality veggie boullion. Which hopefully she won't have to use for a very, very long time, but at least she'll have it on hand just in case and won't have to worry about being starved through stupidity.

And when she's said "I don't eat meat," to food service staff, they've actually in the past responded "It's not meat, it's broth."

Not enough @@ in the world.

Actually, there used to be, but it all got used up on Teppy's sphincterhead!President and polyp-filled-colonhead!coworker.

And, gaaaaaah, Tep, your dad! I just want to shake him until his teeth rattle. I wishwishwish you had a sibling close at hand so at least you could share the load, since it looks like your dad is due to change his crazymaking behavior in approximately never.

Dude, if you put the meat on a piece of lettuce, they totally cancel each other out. Didn't you know that?

Aw, thanks.

Though I did go out and just buy her a carton of veggie broth, and brought in a microwavable container. The nursing staff have cheerfully kept it labelled in their fridge for her, and heated her up a cup at every meal. Now she's on soft foods, so it's cream of wheat for breakfast for a while. She says nobody makes cream of wheat like I do. Which is really funny since I made it for the first time last August, when she was last on soft foods. Apparently it's a natural gift.

Gelatin is technically non-veg too, though for most of Saturday, until I went and got her some broth, she ate some of the jello they brought, every time they brought it. She needed something, and jello is at least semi-palatable for her.

This is just about the most endearingly domestic expression of big-hearted love I have ever heard. I have a huge goopy smile on my face just reading it.

If Fay doesn't come by sometime and read that post of yours and say "Bless," I'll eat (one of) my hat(s).
