Redken has some smoothy stuff that is good for blow drying mine, but it's also good just to put a little in to keep curls shiny and smooth. It's not greasy, which is what I can't do with frizz ease (I mean it feels greasy in your hand, but if you're playing with your hair it doesn't feel greasy).

Spike's Bitches 34: They're All Slime and Antlers
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Teppy, what kind of product doesn't feel like product? I've had stylists swear "this won't feel stiff at all", but it always feels like "stuff in my hair", which I hate. I play with my hair a lot as part of my fidgetyness, and I'm very fussy about the feel of my hair.
There's a lot that doesn't make your hair feel stiff or crunchy -- but it may make your hair feel thicker, which might = "stuff in my hair" feel.
connie, I do want to promote the idea that you don't want to just change your hair, but change how you think about your hair. So put aside your product notions for a bit and try to be open to New Things.
(You need a really gentle, non-detergent shampoo with curly hair, incidentally.)
I've found that hand lotion works just as well as pomade/wax/etc for calming curls without feeling too sticky or heavy.
Lotion tends to make mine dull and greasy, but I think I'm just a big ball of oil anyway, so just about anything added makes me feel like I've been swimming in Crisco.
try to be open to New Things.
No! Never!
maybe
What's a good non-detergent shampoo? I don't wash my hair every day, so I might be able to convince myself to spend a bit more than my wont.
Oh yeah, I have superdry hair, so it takes a lot to make it feel oily.
connie, you want something like Devacurl No Poo.
Hec, have you ever thought of putting your interest in short hair to professional use?
I'd love to see this on you. It would be a bold leap, though.
That one's my favorite, too. I think it would look great on you.
Connie, one of my friends has curly hair and hates doing anything to it. She swears by the tiny bit of hand lotion trick that Jessica mentioned.
I should not look at haircut pictures. It makes me feel slightly bored with my hair, but not only do I have no idea of what sort of cut would work with my face and wardrobe/hat collection, but there's also the whole "Pete will flip out like a mammal if I suggest cutting my hair" thing.
Okay Hec, there's a challenge for you: find me hairstyle options that will work with my aesthetic and NOT involve me getting all my hair cut.
