It should go without saying, I feel, that $1200/mo in Cincinnati can get you a whole whole WHOLE lotta house, in a nice part of town.
(I remember once freaking some NYC-istas out when I mentioned that my rent on my 1-bedroom apartment, which is a decent size, is $535. To quell the freakout, I had to remind them that this is *Cincinnati.*)
Rent on my studio (fairly large studio with an actual kitchen) is $1150. It would probably be a few hundred dollars more if it were a few blocks further north.
I should note that that LA apartment is in a very very very sketch part of town. Like, I wouldn't live there. Ever.
This is comprable to my area: [link]
We had an apartment about this size (a little bit smaller, with not as much light) for $950 -- seventeen years ago. Boy, times have changed.
I love living in LA.
But you live in the perfect Bungalow o' Love!
My 1-BR apartment (with too small kitchen, in mostly nice area) is $510.
O. Hi. O.
Would you want to remain in So Cal, Gloomcookie?
Nope. We want to buy a house and it's next to impossible here. We're also tired of everything being such a chore. Like going the grocery store - fight through traffic, find parking, deal with a bazillion people in the store. And we don't even live in LA proper. We want to go check Portland out and see if it's a possibility.
I love living in LA.
There are things we love, too. Like every band we like coming to town, gayness being no big, and of course the orb. But ultimately I think quality of life is becoming an issue for us.
Gronk. I overslept, and now I've been staring at my two remaining clean shirts for the past five minutes, trying to decide which one to wear. I don't do so well with the decisions before actually getting up.
So which do I wear? Plain green, or white with a Brooklyn Law School logo?
Where I live $1250 can get you a house for rent. We have a 1200 square foot apartment for less than that rent.
I'm glad you slept a little, vw.
I'm more tired this morning than when I went to bed, too much back pain to sleep properly. Hopefully a nice dinner out tonight will put me in a better mood.
