Danke is Thank You. Bitte is You're Welcome.
I thought danke is "thank you" and bitte is "please," as in "please, it was nothing."
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

burrell=skimmer
It's both.
I'm glad Burrell skimmed, because I can add that my Hubby uses "bitte" as "excuse me, what was that you just said, could you repeat that?" In my house, "bitte" has become reflex for that usage. German is his first language, because he moved there as a military dependent at 3 days old and stayed there till age 7.
Oh Lee, I am such a skimmer. If you only knew.
Connie, that seems like "please" again, as in "please repeat that." All I know is I have found the word to be very useful when trying to stumble around German.
I'm also fairly certain you're taller than my kneecap
I'm pretty short, but unless you're over 20 feet tall, I'm also fairly certain I'm taller than your kneecap.
so while I'm wading through anklebiters
Have your garden gnomes come to life and attacked or something?
TCG is home we are alternating between staring at the mess hoping it will clean itself and trying to convince each other that it really isn't that bad.
Maybe Astarte could send the gnomes to help!

Gnomes! That's what we need.
no, no, it's brownies (and not the entry-level girl scouts) who come in at night and clean!
And I'm reminded of the line from "The Full Monty" - "you have gnomes" (in a tone of loathing)
