Maybe because a fifties lamp could be a lot of different styles and Mid-Century Modern is specific style? One of those lamps with a Bullfighter base and a red silk shade is fifties, right?

What she said! Only, I wasn't going to use question marks. MCM is a style ref like "Deco" that's tied loosely to a time period, but that isn't the only style going down at the time.
