I seriously doubt it. The email address is based on my name, and I've never met anyone other than a relative with a remotely similar name, let alone someone with a similar name and interested in this field.

I'm almost willing to start considering this possibility. (My other thought was that maybe someone else who was at that talk had asked him something, and he mixed me up with that person, but then I remembered that I was the only woman who attended that talk, so I'm thinking no.)

I got marked down because I didn't attach any of the listed words to the types of discrimination the German-Americans faced. Why? Because after MUCH searching and even phone calls to my Grandmother, I couldn't find documentation of any of them.

It's a classic tell. The unnamed problem would be the cause of the rift or shift or whatever, of course. Now, since you seem to be the same Hil to us, you probably didn't do the shifting - he must have come to our reality from one in which he worked with you' on this problem, and hasn't realised it yet.
