And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

At least for me, the incoherence/serial posting is waaay more annoying than her tendency to rudeness or the statements she's made about gay sex and Christianity.

Maybe so, but being rude is against the rules. Being incoherent ain't.

The serial posting toes the line, but it is starting to feel like spam in there.

And I still think we should give it a few days, if not a week.

Up with the sun

Jess, I edited because I'd said kind of the opposite of what I meant. I agree she has to actually break the rules before we can warn her, irritating as that may be.

Oops, I didn't see that, Lyra. (I think I'll let my post stand, since I think they're still valid points, even if it's no longer strictly a reply.)

with a gleam in my eye, and an almost airtight alibi

I agree with Jim that it's not a big deal (ETA:) and that some of the posts around this have verged on bullying.

I agree with you that we need to formalize a process and not go through this every time someone does feel there *is* a deal.

I like having the obvious pointed out to me!

also, there's no rule against serial posting.

and, JIM! You don't have an e-mail address either.

I posted mine, but now it's gone...

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

No, but there is a rule against "demon-like behavior". She diminishes the quality of the threads that she does this in, and she uses up our bandwidth and our space (and believe me, I'm aware of the amount of bandwidth and space we've used up talking about this.)

Our wings are not tired.

Again, my marcie is still working in this instance, but for the sake of discussing standard wording if a formal warning is needed at any time in the future, chop away at this maybe...

Dear Buffista,

It is the opinion of the Buffista community that your posting style is causing a problem which needs to be addressed. Specifically, several members have found the posts to be (rude, incomprehensible, vulgar, whatever).

If you wish to remain a contributing member of his community we ask that you carefully examine your posts and make every effort to explain your relevant points without being disrespectful to other members.

In accordance with our policies, this is your first official warning. If you are unable to comply with community standards you will be suspended from the board for a period of two months. If the suspension is violated or if you do not comply with community standards after the period of suspension, then you will be banned.

We sincerely hope you will be able to adapt your posting style to our community standards so that further action will not be required.

Stompy

I would have liked humor, but if formal is preferred.

edit: already changing wording..

Thrive to spite them

I'm still confused, I don't know how anyone can go back and look through the entire history of Zoe's posts and not see a pattern of inappropriate behaviour.

I'm not talking about annoying serial posting or her maddening way of mistaking the characters for the actors.

I'm talking about how she was rude to people ---BEFORE they ever were rude to her (because that happened to me). I'm talking about her "gay is icky" posts that offended people, stuff like that.

It may look like yes, we're all jumping on her now, but I can tell you that I've had problems with her for MONTHS. And I've held my tongue because I thought that if I asked for an official warning I'd hear the things that you are saying now "it's no big deal, just ignore her, she's not that bad".

What many many people have said is that Zoe's behaviour is making it hard for them to enjoy this board. That they look at certain threads and see a jump in the number of posts and instead of being excited they feel a sense of dread.

A sense of dread. Not in the "oh god how will I catch up" but in the "oh god what has happened to upset people now" sense.

I see a problem when that scenario.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

If you are unable to comply with community standards you will be suspended from the board for a period of two months. If the suspension is violated or if you do not comply with community standards after the period of suspension, then you will be banned.

I would clarify this above, to make it clear that you have to come back and be rude again for the next level to kick into effect. Like, say,

If, in the future, you do not comply with community standards, you will be suspended from the board for a period of two months. If the suspension is violated or if upon returning after the period of suspension you do not comply with community standards, then you will be banned.

I do think that somebody with a better balance of serious and goof might take a crack at it, but that's my try.

sorry! My bad with formatting.
