I think that people might have different opinions depending on the results of the first question.

In theory this shouldn't be so. The question boils down to what the appropriate way to handle old issues is, regardless of how long the moratorium period ends up being.

We used to put 4 items on a ballot. Now we're doing one at a time which, IMO, is dragging the whole process out. This ballot could also be used to vote on the Preferential voting/Runoff issue which was left open after the last ballot.

Speaking of which, I move that we discuss how multi-vote items that fail to get over 50% of the vote should get decided.

Thrive to spite them

I'd rather wait and vote on one issue at a time. Especially for the moritorum on old issues, that has been a difficult issue already for us and I don't want anyone to feel rushed into making a vote.

You just LIKE stirrin' up trouble, doncha, Mister Wolf?

Seriously, I believe we agreed to try preferential voting Just One Time, to see how it went. That's being discussed in the voting thread. Perhaps we could wait on that movement until we see how/if that happens this way this time, and what people think of it afterwards?

Also, I would like to point out that this whole system is very very new. I also fell like there's been this rush to make new rules or vote on things that aren't quite as urgent and could wait awhile.

There are a lot of things on our plate right now and if we keep bringing up new issues to vote on or try to decide we are going to spend all of our time trying to govern. I don't like that. It makes me feel uncomfortable. We haven't even had a first vote yet, we don't know how the process will work, we don't know what changes may or may not be needed.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

In theory this shouldn't be so.

In theory, no. But I know I've seen posts from people saying that it does make a difference to them.

Perhaps we could wait on that movement

I agree Deena. I understand wanting to get this admin stuff out of the way. That's one of the main reasons I've been Mr. Prfffmmmng. But I don't want a vote on it until we've tried it.

Wow. Jon, you just made my day. If mathy people and anthropomorphizing of numbers people can agree on this, what other great feat can we accomplish?

(The made my day part was totally straight, the rest, NSM.)

Yes No. Seriously, if we can try PV on this ballot great, but if not I'm tired of the debate each time a vote comes up to try and force issues into two options to avoid the debate each time a vote comes up. (Getting dizzy?) Instead of going round and round each ballot I'd like to get PV/Runoff on the queue for discussion so we can dispense with the issue once and for all. That doesn't preclude us trying it out in the meantime.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

Jon - here is the thing. We will either get a consensus to try preferential voting "just this once" in the current vote on number of months or we will never get such a consensus. So we actually end up with an argreement this time to use preferential voting this once, then we will not actually vote on the question until after having tried it once. And if we do not get a consenus this time, then we will never get such a consenus. In either case we need to get it in the queue, because I believe there is already stuff ahead of it. For this reason I give Wolfram his first second.

The generation that could change the world is still looking for its car keys.

Second Second.

But I really hope we finish up the administrative votes and get on the good stuff, like:

"We have trust issues." Mylar

The PV people are like Sam I Am. "Try it, try it. You will see." It's so cute. I'm all for trying PV and seeing if it flies. If it's really crazy making, we don't have to do it again. And honestly, I don't think it's going to come up too often. Most votes will probably be yes/no type things.
