ita, should we add that to the short blurb?
'Beneath You'
Bureaucracy 1: Like Kafka, Only Funnier
A thread to discuss naming threads, board policy, new thread suggestions, and anything else that has to do with board administration and maintenance. Guaranteed to include lively debate and polls. Natter discouraged, but not deleted.

Perhaps the original post needs to be modified with more information about what it is, if it needs a password, etc. Also, it wasn't an announcement - an announcement tells you what it's about. It just said (words to the effect of) Go Here!
How about "No Natter ... this means if you want to comment on, or ask about, something posted in Press, you must do it in another thread."
But I'm not sure new people will know the right thread.
I'm in favor of the filk remaining as the initial link. The way it is, there's a community vibe version of the Rules, letting everyone know we don't take ourselves too seriously. And the simple version is a link away. If we reversed it, why would anyone ever read the filk version (which, of course, is a national treasure) and get the sense of the waters they're about to tread in?
I think as we revise our processes, our faq and our site, we run the chance of looking like we're more about the how of what we do than the fun of what we do. Let's not forget we're all about the fun.
Well, it's more of an update than an announcement. I guess I can see where it could be confusing - but if you look back through you'll see that Shrift posts these updates regularly.
There's no reason you can't ask a question, just take it over to Natter or the show thread.
Well, the long blurb mentions that, but you only see that on the first page, instead of on every page. A shiny reminder like:
General Announcements
Announcements only. Replies will be deleted.
would be nice.
Should we consider the possibility of having sidebarred threads' long blurbs visible on all pages? We didn't do it for normal threads, cause it annoyed us, TT style, but the sidebar questions come up often enough it might be helpful. (Which announcements go in which thread, where is natter discouraged, deleted, what's the difference between bureaucracy and building, and so forth.)
Good idea, Liese.
Also, it wasn't an announcement - an announcement tells you what it's about. It just said (words to the effect of) Go Here!
Yes, it was an announcement, thank you kindly.
Apparently, my very frequent posts of this nature aren't being read or understood, but frankly, this site is not something I wish to be discussed at long length out in public.
Perhaps I'll simply stop posting the announcements at all, since this seems to be some kind of problem that hasn't been brought to my attention.
I would like to have you continue to post your announcements, shrift.
