Thanks for all the fish.

No, of course I don't mean we make proscribed numbers for slutting. But I'm asking that there be a little more self-restraint exercised, because I feel there's sometimes more empty slut than there should be.

Remember the porn counts? Remember all the people putting in extraneous porn? Numberslutting is the new porn. People will get tired of it, or at least will tie it to more substantial posts.

You sip / say it's your crazy / straw say it's you're crazy / as you bicycle your soul / with beauty in your basket

You see the irony inherent in that, though?

What? In asking people to restrainedly slut?

It's very funny. But-- content, that's exactly what I'm saying. Append a note to the bottom of every otherwise-interesting post explaining why you love that post number so much, certainly. But a thread that just goes, "Slut!" "Slut!" "Slumbernut!" "Companion!"-- gets annoying.

To understand what happened at the diner, we shall use Mr. Papaya! This is upsetting because he's the friendliest of fruits.

Ah, such are the ways of numberslut fandom. It starts out, and you're part of a select few that are privy to the ways of numberslutting. You enjoy numberslutting. You sign on to numberslut message boards and natter about numberslutting. You go to a few numberslut cons. Then, there's a whole rash of articles on numberslutting, and the next thing you know, everyone's doing it, and it's just not as cool as it once was.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

(if there's content, it's not slutting)

(IJS)

I'm not contending your issue or your motive, just saying I agree with Elena. Stuff gets old on its own calendar.

Then it wouldn't be an "empty slut", would it be? That's what I've been saying!

I've got no problem with people crowing about their numbers in the middle of a longer post. But when it's simply number this, number that, it wears on the discussion, and it wears on me.

That's all I've been saying.

Our wings are not tired.

I'm partial to the personal number slutting. Birth year and that sort of thing. Of course, nobody does number slutting like Nilly.

And what I'm saying, is that slutting is inherently empty. You seem to object to all slutting. Not most slutting, or slutting with content (since, oxymoron).

And I'm not trying to argue that away, just cavilling on semantics.

Personally, I don't care one way or another. Technically, I don't know if the # of posts is harder on the server than the size of posts, and where the lines lie there.

Forgive me for being unclear.

A post which is empty other than its (also empty, inherently so) slut.

Is that better? 'Cause that's what I don't like. No, what I don't like is twenty of them in a row.

(That was exaggeration. For rhetorical effect.)

I don't find it as annoying as RL does, but I do find it distracting. I vote for a higher standard too.
