Jayne: We was just about to spring into action, Captain. Complicated escape and rescue op. Wash: I was going to watch. It was very exciting.

Does it only count if it's declared, or does simply exchanging fire justify thread creation?

Only the Buffistas would have this conversation!

(I'm pro-thread by the way, and let's just start it now. Also, in the interest of good taste I suggest NOT having a vote for the title!)

an overblown libretto and a sumptuous score/ could never contain the contradictions I adore

I think if troops are deployed, we're gonna want to talk about it.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I agree.

I'd say to wait a bit to see what happens.

The generation that could change the world is still looking for its car keys.

I think that voting on the thread title would be just as ugly as the discussions in the thread itself. And I'm pro-thread, BTW.

Well, several thousand troops (many of them engineers) have left my home state of Utah in the last couple of weeks, sooooo . . . .

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Haven't some troops already been deployed?

I'd like it started as soon as possible, and I'd like there to be more in the way of ground rules than normal, specifically about politeness, which is normally understood, but in a case like this might be worth spelling out in bold letters.

What Plei said.

Also? No voting on thread title. Something simple, like "US in Iraq." I think everyone will understand what the thread is about.

Agreed, except not precisely that wording because in all probability it will be the US, UK and Australia (at least) in Iraq...

Ah, true. How about "Military in Iraq"?
