Current Stompy Feet: ita, Jon B, DXMachina, P.M. Marcontell, Liese S., amych
It'd have to be something else, because there are plenty reasons anyone might want to say "ita received an official stompy foot warning" or "I don't see why there's not an official stompy foot warning ita right now to step off".
I'd suggest just putting into site etiquette 'no impersonating stompy feet - we realise it's very tempting to want to be ita or Ple, but we don't want to dilute the genuine article' or something like that. If someone actually does fake a stompy-foot warning, I don't think it'd be too long before it gets called in-thread, and an actual stompy-foot would be able to edit out the formatting as soon as one's available.
Me neither.
t edit
except what billytea said...
I go to sleep now.
Hrm. But right now, wouldn't it be editable-back in by the original poster? Our edit never expires, right?
We could delete the offending fake-stompy post.
(really going to sleep)
Hrm. But right now, wouldn't it be editable-back in by the original poster? Our edit never expires, right?
Well, if it's in our etiquette, then it would warrant a warning and (if they persist) suspension, at which point the edit capability would (I presume) expire. But of course, even if they couldn't edit that particular post but retained posting capacity, they could simply re-post (if they really wanted to play silly-buggers).
I think there are going to be some people who won't listen if it doesn't come from an admin ID. And I think, yes, the BSFs have power, however lightly worn or democratically given -- using the admin ID, or adding admin IDs for the BSFs isn't something to write off entirely.
In my opinion, if someone isn't willing to listen to an admin. posting under his or her regular Buffista name, one who is recognized by the community-at-large as an admin., an "admin" i.d. isn't going to make a bit of difference.
Yes.
It should be just as important if victor warns you as if the admin id warns you.
... I could say more about this but I don't think the grammar in that sentence is even at all correct, so I'll quit right now.
Heee - me, too. I had a whole second paragraph I couldn't make sense of, and realized it was just a restatement anyhow.
Go for the Faceless Stompy. Always better. If someone needs stompin' it's better to come from "admin" rather than the name of a person they otherwise consider a friend. Prevents resentment formenting.
