Lurching from one disaster to the next.

While the conversation has touched on the FAQ...

Dawn appears to be what Faith referred to in her much-discussed prophecy dream non sequitur, "Little Miss Muffett, counting down from 7-3-0," (from Graduation Day Part 2 ) and "Little sis coming...So much to do before she gets here," (from This Year's Girl) as well as Buffy's comments about "making a bed" for someone in Restless. The significance of the Little Miss Muffett epithet as attached to Dawn is unclear. "7-3-0" may be a measure of time, as in days (365 x 2), indicating the breakdown of dimensions that occurred at the end of Season Five which was initiated by The Key. (This timeline is based on the fact that Faith made this comment at the end of Season Three.)

Just wanted to say something about this paragraph in the FAQ. I'm extrapolating based on the comments made by Joss in the Jossentary for "Restless".

Dawn appears to be what Faith referred to in her much-discussed prophecy dream non sequitur, "Little Miss Muffett, counting down from 7-3-0," (from Graduation Day Part 2 )...

While he doesn't go into details, he does state that the line, "Little Miss Muffett, counting down from 7-3-0" is the first direct reference to Dawn.

...and "Little sis coming...So much to do before she gets here," (from This Year's Girl)...

In Doug Petrie's commentary for this episode he says nothing about this line but it is safe to say this is another reference to Dawn's imminent appearance.

...as well as Buffy's comments about "making a bed" for someone in Restless.

This scene is confirmed as a direct reference to the coming of Dawn.

Dream!Buffy: "Faith and I just made that bed."
Dream!Tara: "For who?"
Dream!Buffy: "I though you were here to tell me."
[snipped dialog]
a shot of a digital clock displaying "7:30"
The scene then ends with Dream!Tara saying, "Be back before Dawn."

"7-3-0" may be a measure of time, as in days (365 x 2), indicating the breakdown of dimensions that occurred at the end of Season Five which was initiated by The Key. (This timeline is based on the fact that Faith made this comment at the end of Season Three.)

Sounds good. However, 7-3-0 was also the time displayed on the digital clock, so it could be interpreted as the time when Dawn would first be named. Of course, since the actual line started with "Miles to go", it may also be nothing more than the means to end a rhyme. :)

Nobody

We need to take seven...

Swouncing

We need Natter 7, and we might take yours.

As much as I like this (and I do), I also like the idea of Natter threads having Natter-quotes for titles.

I have no ideas of my own to contribute, however, so I'm not really helping, I'm afraid.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Do snakes have tails?

It's the portion of the body past the anal slit -- a distinction that is really only of interest to herpetologists, who do things like search the skeleton for evidence of vestigial limbs and stuff like that. Snake anatomy is actually pretty fascinating, what with lungs and liver and other guts being stretched out through the body.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Jimi - How would you like the Dawn section changed? Replace "appears to be" with "is"?

Jonathan Will Always Be My Hero

I just posted this in the Buffy thread, and I can't believe it never occured to me before.

You can get episodes of almost any show you like off of newsgroups and/or Grokster. I do this regularly, and I would be happy to instruct anyone who would like to do so. But then I figured I better post in here and ask if that is ok.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Schmoker, the best place to post downloading information is probably Buffistechnology -- there's been some discussion there of downloading from BitTorrent, but more sources are always welcome (not that we'd ever do such a thing).

Up with the sun

OKay, here's the tentative set of new Buffy Mythology FAQ questions:

    • How do you get to be a slayer?
  1. Why are there two slayers right now?
  2. Why wasn't another slayer called after Buffy died in The Gift?
  3. Whatever happened to Oz? Drusilla? Harmony? Joyce? Riley? Hank Summers?
  4. Why is Dawn just starting high school in S7 when she was 14 in S5?
  5. Is Spike's sire Drusilla, or Angel?
  6. How old is Spike?
  7. How old is Angel?
  8. Didn't the same actress play Halfrek and Cecily? What's the connection between them?
  9. Why did Spike get his soul at the end of S6? Didn't he want his chip out?
  10. How come Buffy could close the portal at the end of S5?
  11. When is Buffy's birthday? Wasn't it different in S1?
  12. How did Angel return from the Hell dimension after S2?
  13. Did Buffy actually kill Dracula?
  14. What happened to Whistler?
  15. What's with demons and kittens?
  16. Who is Dead Guy Larry?
  17. Who is the Ripper?

I don't know the answers to numbers 14 or 15

Questions from the current FAQ I'd like to copy over:

    • James Marsters isn't English?
  1. Alexis Denisof isn't English?
  2. Oh, no, what about Anthony Stewart Head?
  3. Is that at least really Giles singing?
  4. What's up with the complexity of Faith?
  5. Who are Fuffy and Baith?
  6. Who is Dawn? (The answer to this Q could probably use a rewrite/condensing. Who wants to volunteer?)
  7. How does someone become a vampire?
  8. If a vampire doesn't need to eat or drink for sustenance, why do they? If a vampire doesn't need to breathe, why can they smoke?
  9. If vampires don't have a heartbeat or blood pressure, how do they achieve an erection?
  10. Why can I see Angel/Spike/Drusilla/Darla breathing? (Query: Could we combine these three?)
  11. Um, excuse me, it's Season 6. Where the hell does Giles think he's going?!?

Questions, comments, additions, or deletions?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Moved from current FAQ: What's 5x5?

Thanks, ita. I wasn't sure where vocabulary ended and mythology started on some things.
