"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

I'm not a very picky or opinionated person on the subject. If anyone wants a thread for whatever reason, it makes me no nevermind.

I will however miss learning about new bands and being reminded of old favorites in natter. I'm not sure that I'd subscribe to a new thread. I may try it.

Our wings are not tired.

I agree with Hec’s thoughtful analysis of our growth pains wholeheartedly. It still saddens me. The WX Bitches forum was the first place I ever posted. It was the cozy cocktail party feel that made me stick around. If I visited here the first time after seeing the link on the TVGuide channel yesterday I think I would be very intimidated by the volume of posting.

At this point I have accepted that I will never again be able to read every post and still have time for a job and life. The growth will not drive me away. I will go with the flow, skip, jump in and Natter.

I also am an optimist by nature and believe that things will level out and that the new members that decide to stick around will add another level of richness and diversity to the community.

On the disclaimer, I don’t see how anyone would think we are an official ME site, but I think a disclaimer on the home page would be a good thing.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

So for all of you who will spinoff to music never to be seen again, farewell. Cause, from this chair, at this time, that's what it feels like.

I'm not going anywhere. And I don't think anybody else in music is going anywhere.

I will however miss learning about new bands and being reminded of old favorites in natter.

I don't expect people will stop talking about music in Natter either.

Up with the sun

A couple of people mentioned asking a question and 300 posts getting in between it and the answer - I don't think that's really a good description of the flow of Natter.

I think that's me, and it's not what I meant. What I was referring to was starting a conversation and not being able to follow it because there are 300 posts between the time I started it and the next time I come to the site.

But I think it is relevant of me to note that I'm generally not a chatty kind of person -- I've tried various chatty threads on different forums, and I always end up unsubscribing, because I feel like it's pointless to even *try* to read something and participate in the conversation when I know I''m going to skip 2/3 of what's posted. Mileage on this one obviously varies, and I do not mean to demean the vast majority of you who *are* comfortable with that.

I don't have the TV Guide channel and I agree this is not a huge huge deal, but I also agree that we should add a disclaimer to the etiquette. Something like:

Buffistas.org is fan-owned and operated. We have no affiliation with Mutant Enemy, Joss Whedon, the WB, Fox, or UPN.

Also, could a stompy please correct the "they having smiting capacity" in the etiquette? It should read "they have." It's probably my typo, and I hate to see it immortalized.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Done.

On the disclaimer front, I'm wondering. We have no official affiliation with ME, but we (as I understand it) a forum owned by its members. Joss and Tim are among those members: which suggests that they have a share in the owning and running of the board. They don't own the board, but they are a part of our community, because they are registered here and we haven't suspended or banned them (well, I hope we haven't!).

We should have a disclaimer to say we are not the official website of ME, certainly, and as a fanfic writer I have issues with some of the rest of it. Our status is unclear, and this may be a problem for us.

I added entries to the FAQ for meara and the John H Natter Diet.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Our status is unclear, and this may be a problem for us.

I disagree that our status is unclear. While Joss and Tim are members, and they would be welcome to weigh in on the "should there be a Salad Shooter thread?" discussion, their presence here does not imply any kind of legal relationship between Buffistas.org and Mutant Enemy Productions (or Fox/WB/UPN/etc). We are not "Joss Whedon's website" simply because he's a member, in the same way that we are not "Jess PMoon's website" simply because I am a member.

Should we put DNFtEC in the FAQ? Anyone want to tackle writing the entry?

We are not "Joss Whedon's website" simply because he's a member, in the same way that we are not "Jess PMoon's website" simply because I am a member.

We aren't, indeed: we don't belong to any one person. On the other hand, if I am a member here, am I affiliated with Buffistas?

Concise Oxford:

affiliate (of institution) adopt (persons as members, societies as branches)

So, yes, I am. I know this is pedantic, I know this is nit-picky, but I feel it is important to be truthful in what we're declaring here.
