I vote "Yes" (but I feel sort of bad about it, because I see the argument against thread proliferation changing Natter)

Bureaucracy 1: Like Kafka, Only Funnier
A thread to discuss naming threads, board policy, new thread suggestions, and anything else that has to do with board administration and maintenance. Guaranteed to include lively debate and polls. Natter discouraged, but not deleted.

Is it that the people who would know the answers aren't there at that moment and therefore miss the post or is it because only a few people join into the discussion?
It's because there are several hundred posts in there every day, so it's easy for specific topics to get lost.

I'm wondering if TTT couldn't morph into a general movie thread.
And Farscape morph into a general non-ME-TV thread.

And whither Due South?

To me, the speed of natter has encouraged skipping at skimming. Which is good and allows lots of people to natter. However, when you are skipping and skimming, you basically are only conversing with the buffistas who are there within that particular time frame. When everyone skips and skims, you cannot know who all will see it. If you want to talk about music, you have to sort of save it up until you see Hec or fater or whomever to be around and then ask. If you burst in and ask, you have a good chance of not being seen by someone who knows.
I think I've been convinced to vote yes on the music thread. But Apu stays.
I think due South and Smallville should stay their own threads because it's very fic-oriented, with lots of slash recs going on, and I know that's not everyone's cup of tea.
Although IMHO Smallville is such crap lately that I'm not sure anyone's using the thread to talk about the show.

You misspelled "the thread has become inhospitable to actual discussion of the show because of the vocal nature of the 'this season sucks' crowd."
But I wonder why it needs to be a vote. In the past people have asked for new threads to address a particular interest (like TTT or Farscape). If enough people were interested to sustain such a thread it was made. It wasn't a majority vote.
There does seem to be more dissent this time around.
I'm abstaining. I'm sure I'd enjoy a music thread and would probably be a useful contributor, but I'm worried that this time-sink will turn into time-black-hole for me. I know that's my issue, which is why I abstain.
