drlloyd is pure poison! You guys can do whatever you want of course, but I have never seen any single poster more capable of completely destroying a posting environment. I've had many run-ins with him and he is the most unreasonable poster I've ever encountered. His goal is simple to cause strife and aggravation at whatever cost. He hates Joss, ME, etc..., so intensely, that he is obsessed with destroying anything involving them. He's finally been banned from the Beta, but there were many nights I had to leave the board in complete disgust because I couldn't stand his vitriol any longer. He insults people, lies about things people have said, and has absolutely no shame when caught in said lies. If there were ever a person to ban on sight, he's it. JMNSHO.

I think people gave him too much power, actually. He's really, well, stupid. But you know how it is, the tribe wants to beat the stupid person to death lest it procreate and make dozens of stupid people and then the tribe is inundated with the stupid, and so people have to leave the tribe in the middle of the night while the stupid people get all the really cool huts to themselves. But then the stupid people can't keep the fire going, because they're so fucking stupid, and eventually they freeze to death, and the camp becomes a wasteland.

Then the archaeologists come and see the broken clay pots of the once mighty civilization and theorize that an outbreak of measels killed everyone off, but really, it's just that the stupid people took over, and the smart people left to go invent the wheel, someplace else.

I don't know who Dr. Loyd is, but my instinct is to say that if he shows up and trolls, we follow our laws, warn him, and then suspend him.

(Also, do newbies get a copy of the etiquette? If so, the filk version or the straight one? I don't want anyone to be able to claim we didn't TELL them the rules, and it seems like we're working from the straight version right now.)

This is the person that has the (at least on the face of the Beta) same IP number as I do. S/He's lied about Allyson (and me and Narrator and others). The guidelines we discussed prior to the Phoenix rising have been working brilliantly. During those long discussions there were many what-if scenarios that caused fear among the troops. Take deep breaths and have confidence that this lovely community will thrive in the new year. My vote FWIW is to stay the course and follow the guidelines established.

I would also like to see us follow the guidelines. We've had minimal trolling, and it seems as if one potential nuisance has been behaving him/herself admirably of late. People can learn, usually.

Yeah--the worst that will happen is that we endure a couple days of annnoying posts from an asshole and then the stompy feet will stomp. We aren't as public as the beta or the Bronze, which is a big help.
