Peel it and see

This is a musing I want to throw out and I hope this is the right place. In the last few months I've become very enamoured of TWoP's Buffy fanfic section on their posting boards. The people there are funny and smart and nice, there are many good fic writers posting there, and it's great. It's also a rapidly sinking ship.

I'm wondering if it might not be fun to recreate some of those threads here and invite them over. We have a couple of fanfic threads already, of course, but the ones on TWoP are a little different--there's one that's just about mocking Badfic, which is frequently hilarious, and another that's just for recommendations, and then a main 'talk about it' thread (I guess we've got that already).

Thoughts?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Done.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

I'll be a Pollyana and say that I don't like the idea of a thread dedicated to mocking badfic. Yes, we all do it, and sometimes we even point people to it, but...I dunno. God knows there's enough fic out there that deserves it, but...

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I lurk there, Herself, and I like them. And I had just posted about the moderators being a little overzealous.

Duh-- already said it.

Maybe they could just fit into what we have now. What DO we have now? We've got a thread where we recommend, and another where we post bits of what we're writing, yes? Perhaps that's enough. Personally, I enjoy the badfic mockage thread but I'm not gonna stamp my little feet about it. I guess in our two threads we do all the same things that happen at TwoP in about five separate threads. So yeah.

Of course if I go over there and tell people about here, Ace will probably ban me or something. ;)

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

No posting boxes anywhere ita. Thanks.

We've got a thread where we recommend, and another where we post bits of what we're writing, yes?

We've got one for discussion "Fan Fiction: Readers, Writers, and Enablers". And then we've got Bitchy Fic and PPO for Buffy and Smallville.

I don't want to come across like I'm high and mighty about the badfic. I mock the badfic. But I don't necessarily want to institutionalize it.

The badfic thread is hysterical, but I feel mean about it.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

I like the badfic mockage as a running joke with the DRTBF, but don't really want to see a whole thread of it.

also kind of fear an influx of many TWoP posters, but that's just residual trauma from when I hung out at MBTV

Roguish Laird

This is going to sound horribly snobbish, but perhaps people on TWoP could just privately nudge the posters they like over here, without making board-wide announcements? Because I'm all for new people, as long as they're exactly like us.
