You know, it's funny. We went to war never looking to come back, but it's the real world I couldn't survive.

Punishingly Intricate

NY-istas!

My friends, the fine fine rocker ladies Vestal Vermin, are playing their first ever show up your way.

Thursday, Rocktober 21st at Trash in Brooklyn (256 Grand St.)

They say: "New York, New York, it's a helluva town, and we (the Vestal Vermin) are going there, for to rock like a northbound hurricane. Tell your friends, tell your neighbors, tell total strangers you see on the subway. I hear that's a New York tradition.

We've never played out of town before, and it's our second-to-last gig possibly ever or at least for a very long time, so we'd love to play in front of actual people instead of the imaginary ones I keep seeing all over the place."

Up with the sun

Two comments on the ongoing vote:

1. If you vote to close Angel Previously, Angel discussion will still take place in the main Angel thread.

2. There have been some questions about "No Preference." Buffista ballots include the "no preference" option because some people may want to vote on certain issues on a ballot, but not care about others. In addition, we have a minumum of 42 votes required for a ballot to count, so some people vote "no preference" to ensure we don't fall short of that. "No preference" votes aren't counted as either yeses or nos: the choice with the most votes outside the "no preferences" still wins. (E.g., if Lost got 94 "no preferences," four nos and two yeses, the nos would win.)

If you feel you voted incorrectly, you can revote here.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I have a friend who has Buffy Season 7 DVDs she's looking to sell. She says they're from Australia, PAL region 4. Any Aussies or people with region-free players who are interested can e-mail her at celia_311@yahoo.com.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

I got a "cease & desist" email from Judith Martin's (the real Miss Manners" lawyers today. Sooo, www.gothicmissmanners.com is going away in a day or so, to be reborn at a later date under a new name.

If I only had a brain...

Here comes TAR:

CBS isn't benching struggling freshman drama "Clubhouse," but the network seems to have decided that the show isn't worthy of a place in its starting rotation. The network has cleared out the Tuesday 9 p.m. ET time slot for "The Amazing Race 6," sending "Clubhouse" off to the weekend, effective immediately.

The latest "Amazing Race" will have a two-hour premiere on Tuesday, Nov. 16. "Clubhouse" will make its Saturday 8 p.m. premiere on Nov. 6.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Huh. Apparently, Joss will in fact be at a party in LA on Sunday as part of a Kerry fundraiser, as well.

Cost will be $50.00, and they're working out the details as we speak.

And I told Mike (the assistant to the Whedon shaped man) that if that all changes, I'm giving his cell number out to all of you so you can complain to him. hee.

Watch this space for details, LAistas.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I've signed up to hold the Joss Whedon call fundraiser at my house... and sent email out to the Somervillains. Should there be any Buffistas who aren't on that list, and interested in coming and/or making a donation, please get in touch with me via my board address here.

Herc and I are hosting the LA High Stakes Party and have the ear of the main oraganizers. If anyone has questions, please email me and I will get you answers. Yes, Joss is coming and Amy Acker and J. August Richards have also been confirmed.

The local parties are asking for a minimum donation of $35. It's $50 only at the LA venue.
