Friendly reminder that discussion of My Name is Asher Lev, by Chaim Potok, begins in Book Club thread on Monday, September 13, 2004. It's a relatively short book so there's still plenty of time to cram it in (or for our illiteristas to find someone to read it to them.)

Our next book will be Small World, by David Lodge, with discussion to begin Monday, October 11, 2004. Reading list information and Amazon buffiliate links for all books can be found in the first post of the Book Club thread.

For sale we'll have fabric and trim yardage and remnants, costume pieces, clothing that staff members and friends have donated, furniture, an industrial machine, thread, and you guessed it .....corsets !!!! A few well loved samples will be going to new homes.

Please come to our Rummage Sale this Saturday, September 11th. The store opens at noon and will close at 6pm and is located at 321 Linden St. in San Francisco.

Linden is a small alley that runs parallel to Hayes and Fell Streets and intersects with Gough.

First, thank you all for your darling birthday wishes. I've been squealing and reading them aloud to the Miracleborns.

This is a driveby, as I'm out the door soon, but I just wanted to announce that what was once my old column, "Writing for the Real World," has become "How to Suceed As a Failing Writer," and now lives at Gotpoetry.com.

We're kicking off with a re-run, to set the tone, but soon there will be more caustic, cyncial and hopefully entertaining and interesting musings on living a writer's life.
