Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I have a request for info: I have a cousin in Maryland who fears her very premature infant son may have cerebral palsy. She's trying to be proactive and find a gifted physical therapist to work with him -- she's willing to drive to DC and Baltimore also.

If you do know of any therapists, or tips for where she should look, please contact me at my profile address.

Thanks.

Our wings are not tired.

Hurricane pictures, hastily compiled...

The Holt house

Within a few blocks of home

Ugh. What a cleanup job.

If I shouldn't post this here, please let me know and I'll delete. I'm working in collaboration with these scientists, and hope to even one day use the data they're collecting, so I know for sure that this is a serious request.

How does the Internet look like? How does it evolve?

DIMES is a new academic research project founded by the European Union that aims at answering such questions. For this end, we are asking the general public to volunteer and download a light agent that will perform network measurement at very low rates. Our code is open source and does not reveal any information about the hosting machine. We currently support MS Windows, and plan a Linux porting soon.

Aside from helping science, running the DIMES agent also provides you with maps of how the Internet looks from your home or office (currently) and will (in the future) provide you with a personalized 'Internet weather report' and other user-focused features.

To download the agent please point to [link]

We are very enthusiastic about DIMES and hope for your collaboration.

Please feel free to forward the above DIMES link to anyone who might be interested in the project.

Best regards,

The DIMES team

If I only had a brain...

Given how many Buffistas are TiVo and/or NetFlix enthusiasts:

Later this month Tivo will allow Netflix customers to download movies over the Internet.

"You see? THAT's what they want. Love, and a bit with a dog."

I put these in Bitches first, but it seems like some other people are putting their Nilly pics here, so I will too:

A Few Boston Nilly Pics!

Also included, a pic of my Winifred the Echo and Homely-O, the ugliest car known to man. (I had some pictures I had to use up.)

Pictures from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, New York City and Washington DC.

These are only pictures from my camera, and not all of them yet. Some of the captioning may be wrong/mispelled/just bad, but I'll just correct things as I go along.

Thank you. All of you. I had such a great time. It will take me a while to process it all, and I do hope to get to write about everything, eventually. I feel so lucky.

It really doesn't matter. It's just an opinion. Don't worry about it. Not worth the hassle.

SEATTLE-ISTAS!

Will go to F2F with this and email with this as well, but my signing/reading event at Barnes and Noble, University Village, is official for Halloween weekend. Laura Stretchenback is asking which night I'd prefer. I'm thinking the Saturday night (30 October). In any event, I want to schedule it so that the maximum number of people show up (obviously!) and also to maybe rock the B&N with a nice gothy little party, which Laura would probably love.

I need to confirm this with both the store and my publicist, so if people could e me with what date they'd prefer, I can get this set up ASAP.

Thanks!

Shit's all sorts of different now.

LAISTAS

As I am sure you all know by now, Miss Trudy Booth is in our fair burg this weekend. Tomorrow, being her birthday, we are celebrating with by heading out to Casa Vega in Sherman Oaks (it was TOTALLY in Valley Girls - Julie and Randy had their first date down the street at DuPar's).

Anyway...

Casa Vega 13301 Ventura Blvd x-st Fulton Blvd. 8pm

Good drinks, good eats, lots of fun!! Maybe MM can chase Emilio Estevez out of the place again.

E-mail to my profile addy so that I can call and make the reservation - it gets car-zeee in there on Saturdays if there's no reservation!!
