Are you ready to be strong?

I need a MASSIVE INFUSION of jobma svp. One of the hiring-type people from the place I want to work called me last night and said they want to talk to me AGAIN, TODAY, at 4:00. I don't know what they want to talk to me about. I guess they have some question about me? Or they just want to look at me again because I'm so pretty? Or perhaps they need to know about my makeout techniques. Or maybe they want me to be there at 4:20 so we can all toke up! They want to know if I am a "square."

I DO NOT KNOW. All I know is I'm supernervous and would really appreciate any vibes/voodoo spells/magick kabbalah hoohaw sent toward getting me this job.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

I got a call this afternoon and set up a second interview with the company I interviewed at yesterday afternoon.

The general manager said he had some people he wanted me to meet.

Meep.

Jobma appreciated. "Remembering how to be funny, intelligent, and charming in a group of total strangers whom I need to impress"-ma also appreciated.

I don't want to be Superman. I want to stay little and be next to Mommy.

I am no longer unemployed! I start Monday week at a large midtown financial-information firm. It's good money, but the commute is close to two hours each way. The work will be interesting and challenging. Ongoing don't-screw-it-up-ma greatly appreciated...

Are you ready to be strong?

It worked! I also = employed now. The money sucks (it's even less than I was making at my last job) and the hours are punishing, but it's a nice place full of nice people and the work should be interesting.

Ongoing don't-screw-it-up-ma greatly appreciated...

Same.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Meep.

I have twin knives in a leather harness.

Thank you guys SO much.

Not having has never been the thing I've regretted most in my life. Not trying is.

Going grey for the next week. Even telecommuters have to check in at the home office sometimes.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Ladies and gentleman, I present to you the belated photgraphic debut of Buffistina Monkeypants Frances Lucy Burrell at one week old. (She's almost a month now.) Awww, isn't she a wee beauty?

And her rawther pretty parents doting and glowy with love for their baby child.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

This is a big, fat, very public THANK YOU to the Somevillans (alright, some of them were from Cambridge or Wooster or some place in Rhode Island-- but fact is they're awesome) who made my birthday a very happy one. Thank you all for bringing food and yourselves and squiring me around and being gleeful and weird. I'd also like to thank Ellen for being a most gracious and tolerant hostess. ::MWAH::

Two years ago hell broke loose on my home and I was so grateful for the haven of the Buffistas who kept me informed and sane throughout. Last year, I was warmly welcomed by the Haligonians and my special day was delighful even on such a dreadful anniversary. This year the Somervillians shared their own special brand of (though not as drunken as one had been lead to expect) lurve.

It seems that, instead of going away, my B-day has become a Buffista branded event. I am truly blessed.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Back from San Diego.

Heading for Jacksonville this evening. Will be dark until Friday.

No slumbernuts were harmed in the making of this post. Any more than they deserved, anyway.

I am going more or less dark for the near future. We're finally moving into our new house on Friday, and they're cutting off our phone (and fax, and internet) access sometime Wednesday. No idea when they'll get it working again at the new place, as we currently can't find the 'phone line....

It's been a lot of hard work, but our house is beautiful, and Benno loves it there.
