Had a bit of a scare today, Mom went to the ER early this morning with abdominal pains. The doctors ruled out a recurrence of her pancreatitis from 6 years ago, and her EKG, CT scan, and blood tests all came back good. She's home now and feeling OK under the influence of IV painkillers.

Please wish her not-actually-anything-wrong~ma.

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

Most of you know that my parents spend August and part of September in Italy. They are OK; the earthquake was much farther north (central Italy) than they are (on the sole of the boot near the ball of the foot). The devastation is incredible. Whole towns are gone. If you'd like to help, here are a few ways: [link]

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

My Neicephews have been abducted by their noncustodial parent. Their biological dad had legal visitation from late June until 15 Aug. He was not allowed to take them out of the country. He did not return them, and has indicated that they are already out of the country in Mexico (this is very believable) and he refuses to ever return them.

I've posted information in the Buffitas group on FB and my personal page. We've worked within every legal option and investigated a few areas slightly more grayish but we don't have the twins back.

All it takes it one person seeing them and letting authorities know where they are. Call 911 in the US and 060 in Mexico.

I've been basically black here for a while but I still think of this as my community. There are photos of the twins all over Facebook and I'm accepting any and all requests because they're all Buffistas and you are my tribe. It's selfish to post when I haven't been around but these kids are missing and I can't even be sure they are safe.

The annual lantern lighting ceremony was tonight -- flea (and family) joined us to launch a lantern for Ginger on the lake. Picture are in the FB Buffistas group, or if you're not in that group, this post is a public post so you should be able to see them (along with pictures of my other lantern): [link]

Hospital trying Bipap procedure tonight to get the last of fluid out of lung for my Mom who turns out to have Pulmonary Edema NOT pneumonia. All the ~ma you can spare for success please - and if successful for good results so that she can eat again. Loss of appetite is resulting in starvation diet- she won't each much. Can't stand food with how sick she is. And since getting rid of fluid critical no continuous IV, though she is getting protein injections. So far the limited menu of things she will eat is eggs (about three or four a day) apple sauce, in which she will tolerate protein powder and boost magic cup vanilla ice cream (9 grams protein 38 carbs and about two fat exchanges) twice a day. Growing weaker every day even though she breathes better as fluid level reduced. Kind of critical that this succeeds, becasue she needs to get over the illness so she can recover from the damage done by exhaustion and malnutrition.
