Move~ma for the next four days, please, for my folks! It's the big day today, we're all packed up and the movers should be here shortly. Tonight I'll pick my sister up from the airport, the buyer will have their final walkthrough, then tomorrow they'll close on the house, and my sister will drive them to Dallas! It'll take them three days to get there, and I'll be headed home during that same time.
It's all been going really well, but moving is always hard, and moreso when you're 76 & 78. Mom has been doing so well, but she's s worrier, so calm~ma for her would be good. And Dad's doing super on his Parkinson's meds, but this is a big undertaking.
This is a cross post from FB.
The horse therapy program I've been working with since January just won a "free" Gypsy Vanner horse named Challenger. He will be a wonderful addition to our program and allow us to serve even more clients for many years to come!
I put the free in quotes because there are added costs just to bring him home, such as the cost of transporting him from Tennessee ($800), providing major medical insurance for the first year ($300) and having a vet check his health upon arrival ($125). These costs were not budgeted for as we had no idea that we would be able to win one of these fantastic horses.
Donations can be made online at: Colorado Gives-The Right Step. Direct your donation to the "Bring our Gypsy Home" fund. Checks or cash can be put in the donation box at the barn or mailed to The Right Step, P.O. Box 721, Littleton, CO 80160-0721. Every penny helps!
Thank you for your support! With your help, we will have our Gypsy home by mid-November at the latest!
Hi all!
Update on my mom. She is in after care, recovering from the hip fix. She is doing well, and the nurses have been warning her not to get up and move around without calling them.
However, she's stubborn and they've capitulated and basically said, "Call us if you need us." She has free run with and without a wheelchair already.
She's even upped PT to 2x day, sometimes more.
I am in need of Buffista internet magic once again! The online publication I write for that gives me a significant bonus for 400 Facebook shares, as shared through the links on the story itself. So check it out, and if you like it, please share it! Ten Places Doing Craft Beer Right in New Orleans.
Well, I'm just gob-smacked. I just went through the mail that came in after the long weekend, and found a lovely card and even lovelier check from you guys.
Can't even begin to say how much this helps, since I've been basically operating on a week-by-week basis for too long. Money may not buy you happy, but it sure makes you less anxious!
This is seriously one of the nicest things that's ever happened to me, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I was just thinking how life-changing my hooking up with the Buffistas was, this just underlines and puts an exclamation point on it.
Thanks again!
Leaving tomorrow with DH and my awesome MiL to head to PA for three days of Bar Mitzvah festivities. Am having anxiety, but traveling with an awesome, loving support system and self-care plans.
But still asking for -ma. Feeling nervous, but confident. Love is the best med.
Update on the status of my mom, Mary.
She arrived home Tuesday, October 13 and is so very glad to do so.
Mother and daughter team J and M went up to visit for the weekend, and when I called on Friday, were reporting mom in good spirits.
Mom is again pushing back against expectations that they want her to use a walker, and prefers her walking stick, as she can stand upright. (She is determined to not get dependent on a walker and detests being hunched over.)
Can I get some health~ma for DH? I got home from a trip yesterday afternoon and he was fine, but early this morning, he's having some odd things going on. Not enough for 911 but enough that we're calling the doc as soon as the office opens.
Can I get a load of job interview-ma for D? He has an interview at 10:30 CST at a very prestigious law firm doing head of
security work for a substantial raise, which we could use quite desperately.
D is quite underpaid at his current job and under challenged. So please give some job -ma to the universe in about 20 minutes and cross your fingers, do a dance, dial 3 to sacrifice a goat, whatevs.
ETA: Thank you, thank you, thank you, for the interview-ma. It went fantastically, and he feels 95% he got it.
Can we have a bit more job offer-ma?!
(We're so excited.)
So...D got the job!! He's not announcing until he passes the background check, which is nothing compared to all the government security clearance checks he passed, so he totally had this great new job!
In shock. Happy. Shock.
