I could use some job-ma in my general direction. I just sent my resume off for a copy editor position for a big old medical journal. Also to a company that provides editing services for academic articles written by ESL authors.
If the Apocalypse Comes, Beep Me
Birth, death, illness, new job, vacation...if it's happening to you and you want us to know about it, post it here. These threads are intended for announcements only. Want to offer sympathy or congratulations, or talk about anything? Take it to Natter. Any natter here will be deleted.
I'll be walking in a Relay for Life next Sunday at 4am, sponsored by my company, because Fuck Cancer. If anyone wants to donate to the American Cancer Society by way of this event, you can do so here: [link] Don't feel any obligation, please, the deal is that employees do the walking and the company does the fundraising, but I wanted to give y'all the option.
I'm going to Memphis to take my cousin out for her 89th birthday dinner today. Coincidentally, I found out that the place I recently bought a half-price gift certificate for is where she used to go for her birthday dinners for many years, so score!
Tomorrow evening I fly to London for my family vacation. Wi-Fi willing, I'll be able to check my e-mail regularly. Otherwise, I'll be dark.
More specific job-ma requested: I have a phone interview at 7:30 a.m. board time (I think? 10:30 Eastern) for the aforementioned freelance editing job with a big medical publisher. All good vibes welcome.
Interview went well, and the editorial coordinator is going to send me a copy-editing test to make sure I can do what I claim to be able to do. So, either I REALLY fooled her, or I have a damn good shot at this.
If I could have calm~ma and keeping it together~ma around 4pm PST, that would be great. That's when the meeting with the manager and HR is.
For those who don't know, The Miracleborns are moving. Again. We are sending out change of address postcards so if you would like one, please send your address to my profile addy.
SMOOCH.
I am humbled and grateful. For those that helped contribute toward my finishing my degree either in thought, prayer, or financialy, I wanted to show you this:

I can not thank you enough. I am truly, truly thankful.
I just put a notice up on Facebook that I'd match donations to Ginger's fund. I am trying to encourage my non-b.org friends to donate.
Please understand that I can't match all of *your* donations; I couldn't figure out a way to state such on Facebook without getting non b.org peeps very, very confused (and very nosy about what Buffistas are!).
