No other way to tell this, Maria (MFNlaw)'s husband died at home this morning. Just finished talking to her and she's with her parents, headed home with them. I don't know what else I should share on the open board. Feel free to email me at my username dot 1 at the gmail. Please keep her and their families in your thoughts.

Could I get some interview-ma at 3pm board time today? I've got a phone interview with the HR person at Isilon!

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

My yahoo email address was hacked sometime this morning. If you got mail from me please make sure it's *from me* (and I haven't sent anything since last evening) before you open it. Things should have been taken care of. If anybody gets any more spam from me, please let me know. Sorry, and thanks.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

My hotmail account was hacked. Any emails you got from that account yesterday or today aren't actually from me.

The potential (Buffy flashback, like whoa) is on his way and should arrive in about a half hour.

I've set up places to go and people to sniff and am hoping we get time for a brief nap. I need to know if he snores.

It feels sort of like a doggy blind date.

Wish us both calm and good choices.

::eep::

PS: I'd appreciate some release-of-guilt ~ma, if anybody has any laying about. It's only been two months...forever, and no time at all.

The pooch has been here for a couple of hours and I am torn so badly, I don't know what to do with myself.

Photos: He's a Mastif-Basset with a huge head and the sweetest eyes.

I can certainly manage any behavioral stuff. He's super, super sweet. Just a big lovebug. He's been good with all the dogs and people on the street.

He is currently sacked out, quietly snoozing.

So sweet.

There are problems, though, that I think means we won't work out. Nothing behavioral...he's a doll baby.

Structurally, however, it's a real problem. The last time I saw a dog with conformation this bad, he had to have both of his front legs broken and realigned.

I can't imagine him having to climb up and down my many stairs for the rest of his life.

Also. And this sounds absolutely horrible, even to me...he drools a LOT. When I was introducing him to people, they cooed over how adorable he is, but as soon as they touched his head, they kind of recoiled with a 'yuck.' I wear a lot of black...slobber really shows up.

His energy is actually too calm. He doesn't walk quickly and would not be up to doing demonstrations in workshops, I don't think.

Ugh. This is heartbreaking.

eta: One terrifically good piece of news is that I really am ready to have a dog again. It felt so good to be on the street with him, feeding him and just being in his presence.

David said it best, I really need a dog to be happy.

I just wish this little guy was the one.
