Can I dip into the ~ma well for DH's family and his grandmother? She's 93 and just went into the hospital for what looks like some invasive bladder cancer and a heart attack. I'm glad he got to see her this summer, but I know from her saying so a while back that this is not how she wanted things to go.

Please. Bartleby is going in for surgery tomorrow and I am in rough shape. It should be fine, but he is just everything and, well...I'm frightened.

The stuff he is having done has caused him tremendous pain in the past, which just breaks my heart. It will also exacerbate an on-going health thing that, recently, we've been managing pretty well.

Also, to say that I can't afford this would be insulting the concept of affordability. If the bill comes in on the lowest of sides, I can squeeze it on our healthcare credit card. Anything beyond that will be something to be managed.

One great thing is that friends are dropping us off and picking us up, which is a gift beyond measure.

Please, ease of procedure, least possible pain, competent surgeons and conservative pricing ~ma, if you have any to spare.

Also, if someone could drop sleeping powder on me, that would be awesome, as we are heading out at Ohmagod o'clock.

Heading home from my uncle's funeral, my flight was turned back from Ketchikan due to high winds. I have to say that at that point, that was the outcome I was praying for, as "high winds" seemed a gross understatement to me at the time. I've been unable to book another flight until evening, so while I pan on being busy throughout the morning (my pillow and I have an appointment), should any Seattlistas have time in the afternoon, it would be great to connect. Medical~ma requested for Hubs. He was admitted to the hospital overnight Monday/Tuesday. He has asked that I not be specific about the problem, but any ~ma would be appreciated.

SoCal-isats, I'll be in Long Beach from 11/2-11/5 for a ballroom competition. This is my first big one, out of my local area, so to say I'm nervous is understating it. So far, what I know is I'll be competing Thursday and Friday, single dance events during the day and the scholarship events (where I do all of the dances in one go) on those same evenings after 8PM. The event is taking place at the Westin Long Beach.

Thank you for the ~ma everyone. DH's grandmother passed this morning. She told everyone she was ready to go, so there's that.

May I request some extra ~ma for DH tomorrow, starting around 11 am EDT? He will be undergoing surgery at Johns Hopkins University Hospital as part of his ongoing treatment against the melanoma.

The surgeons will be removing the remaining lymph nodes attached to the cancerous area (approx. 40-60 they said), and it's going to be a long day in surgery for him, and the waiting room for us. I'll try and update as I can. Here's hoping for no complications.

DH is out of surgery. Everything went well for the most part. Had some airway issues and the surgeon found more internal scarring from the first surgery than she anticipated. The pathology report will be back on a week. He'll be in overnight but the doctor doesn't see any impediment to him going home tomorrow.

In a happy bout of news, I found out this morning that my National Board Teaching Certification was renewed for another ten years. I am very happy and proud; the portfolio for renewal was quite the process.
