Gunn: The final score can't be rigged. I don't care how many players you grease, that last shot always comes up a question mark. But here's the thing. You never know when you're taking it. It could be when you're duking it out with the Legion of Doom, or just crossing the street deciding where to have brunch. So you just treat it like it was up to you—the world in balance—'cause you never know when it is.

All is well that ends in pizza.

Long day. I got up early to stop en route to work and talk to Andi's doctor via cell phone. He wants me to come in at 8am tomorrow (Friday) to talk, but I found out from Andi when I called her at lunch that he's going to let her go home with me!!!

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Hi everyone! Thank you so much for all your support these last few days. The Body Image Demons ganged up on me with their old pal Major Depression, and the result was me being in the hospital. I'm now home. I have some new meds which have not had the chance to reach peak effectiveness yet, and I have a bunch of outpatient appointments with various and sundry doctors, therapists, and groups. The cats are swarming around me, gently, telling me what a good job Daniel did taking care of them while I was away. Daniel read a few of your messages to me over the phone one evening, enough to make me weep with love. And I know there are so many that I have not had the chance to read yet. But I want to say thank you again.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

More details from Jilli:

En route to hospital now. Short form: long-standing issues ... have done liver damage. Her legs have been swelling for weeks, and she's been ignoring it.

Dad made her go to the ER on Friday, but things seemed mostly fine on Sunday, so she demanded to go home. Things got worse Sunday night. Ambulence to hospital earlier this evening.

Jilli's mom is Mom to a lot of us, and we love her dearly. Please keep her in your thoughts.

Mom update: She’s in serious condition, but the doctors have sent us home, because there’s nothing to be gained by us sitting around in the waiting room. I appreciate everyone’s well wishes more than I possibly can say. Thank you.

Mom update: She’s stable. On a ventilator, but stable. I’m going to go visit her in a bit. Thank you for all your prayers and kind wishes.

More Mom info: She’s still stable, but not really lucid. I saw her today, held her hand, and told her that everyone was sending her their prayers and good wishes.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

Lots and lots and lots of ~ma going out to your mom, your family, and you, Jilli. My thoughts are with you.

In my own continuing medical adventures (crossposted with FB):

Let me start by saying, I'm OK. I woke up today in pretty serious pain from the ongoing cat-scratch-fever issues, and went into surgery around 2pm to drain the lymph node that's been giving me trouble since Dec. 5th. By all accounts, the surgery was a success, and I'll be going home tomorrow. Yay for FINALLY being on the road to recovery!
