Can I get some cat-ma? Teenaged-mother cat, Maggie, has a mass in her abdomen, and the vet took an ultrasound yesterday. It's one of, say, 5 things. 2 are treatable with antibiotics. 1 is treatable with surgery. 2 of them, there's nothing to be done. I'm off to the vet to get the prescription. If all goes well, she'll be feeling much better by Monday.
Oh, and if you could convince her to come out from wherever she's hiding, that would be great.
I've been lurking here and there (and will continue to try to get back up to speed on Buffistadom) but I thought I'd announce that after nearly 20 years in the SF Bay Area, circumstances are forcing me back to the land o' my birth - Los Angeles. I would be all too happy to meet up with some LA Buffistae for hijinks and such starting in August.

I received Lee's addition to the nail polish round robin today and will add it to the main box when that arrives. I continue to be dark grey for the next few weeks as I go back and forth (fun vacation time?) between home and the folks'.

Hey NCistas! Gary and I will be in Raleigh August 5-8 to attend ReConStruction(The 10th Occasional North American Science Fiction Convention). We'd love to meet up with folks while we're there. As we are driving, we're flexible as to where to meet.

In NE Oklahoma and a red tailed hawk just flew into our window. Now hopping with hurt wing. Humane society said call Game Warden. Anybody know of anyone else that might help hurt hawks? I will check for answers in Natter. Thanks.
-Update. Have called a few numbers and been told that the way that I describe the bird it just has a concussion and should recover in 1-3 hours, so the best thing to do is wait. The bird is just sitting by the lake and looking at the water right now, chillin' in the shade. I got close to it a couple times, just to see how hurt it was. That's a big freakin' bird!
-update 2. It's been 3 hours and the hawk still isn't flying. She hasn't strayed far though. Talked to a couple other people and they said this was very normal. Since she isn't full grown and momma bird's nest is only a few yards away, rescue people said momma bird would try and feed her for a couple days even if she is slightly injured. I'm worried about night predators. Rescue people said the hawk should be able to climb a tree to get away from predators...but I would have liked to see some evidence of that for me to believe them.
